What I want: PRQL (which they do eventually mention at the very bottom) + a database that supports something like protobuf defined tables. I'm half convinced that after my current gig I'll do a startup based on that idea. I just w

Again, I think the disagreement is not whether it has learned to approximate a sorting algorithm, but whether that qualifies as reasoning and, if it does, in what sense.

Eh. I still consider them stochastic parrots. My concessions lie elsewhere, primarily in the vocabulary. We refer to algorithms like quicksort as 'reasoning' about the input. So it's fine to use the same sense of the word to

I can't help but wonder if they were legally allowed to do this bullshit anyway. If I failed to migrate my account, are they allowed to deny me access to the product I paid for?

Disclaimer: I think this change is extremely dumb and alienating to their core users in a feeble attempt to fix a problem that doesn't exist. That said, you kind of identified why they're only rewarding historical nitro users. Bec

Maybe strictly definitionally, but comparing the connotations of the two, I assume people don't actually truly randomly guess.

Guessing has a very mild implication of thought or estimation from a model of understanding of the subject in question. Hallucination, on the other hand, is evocative of a less reasonable/rational source.

Personally I advocate for modular monoliths with the boundaries set by gRPC services. Monoliths are fun to bash, but I'd rather have a monolith than poorly done microservices. The problem is that Ruby encourages (or, perhaps, doesn

It's somewhere in between. I know of second hand stories where folks were unintentionally strung along by the IRS. They'd get a notice that they underpaid by $X and it had been Y days with Z% interest being applied. So they send i

So, 'update regulations when new information comes to light'? It is frustrating that common action often precludes such common sense sentiments due to the friction of interests or bad actors.

This is a fascinating blind spot I didn't know I had! Difficult to do much with as so many request/response load balancing software is inherently push based, but it's a great eye opener.

Is the implication that each nonperturbative term represents a specific kind of field interaction? Thus would there be a finite set of nonperturbative terms that, if exhaustively found, would render the trans-series convergent?

LLMs have randomness, but they are not random. LLMs probably won't generate new words, for example, so they could not have written shakespeare based on contemporary writings.

That raises an interesting point. On the one hand, novelty is in the eye of the beholder, if you will. What has been done before might still be new to many. On the other, randomness is built in and language has a remarkable capacity for uni

The language is in a weird place. The language itself is okay, but you're often trying to use the language to compute a result that meets an interface that is never defined. There is very poor ability to reason about the 'types&#x

'hard' is not the goal, so much as "don't skip inherent complexity". It turns out things were already hard, Rust just has the tools to make it tractable to deal with all of it instead of ignoring it.
