If they asked a bunch of doctors how anesthesia worked, they were just about to go perform surgery at home, you'd expect the doctors to warn that it was a bad idea, no?

Edit: just read other comments pointing out the healthcare thing. Hire a professional. Honestly, authentication is not that hard. There are many ways to do it, all with valid trade offs. What you need to know is what your AUTHORIZATION stor

I was just today looking at E-inks new 'JustWrite' technology where the screen pixels are activated by a stylus instead of the backing, so writing feels instant (and might be just about instant too). If this tech also has that pos

You either don't understand the point of the theorems or are being contrarian. In the context for the Incompleteness theorems, there are two 'kinds' of truths: a more informal kind used by all of us everyday and the mathemati

Anyone know what primality test they use? Miller-Rabin for testing then something deterministic for verification?

I say this on every VPN thread and it's still the best advice: Just use Wireguard.

Most of the steps here are not really configuring Wireguard, they're configuring the host (server or client) to use Wireguard. WireGuard could certainly present those options as a default and automatically do them, but that would be ab

Really? I had read that Finnish was incredibly irregular, to the point that listing out all the irregularities was challenging in and of itself.

Hm, does this solve the 'consumer-level support' (or lack thereof) problem? I can't tell if the experts are essentially human tutorials or if they can actually escalate issues.

I don't think they're saying that change is bad but that THIS change is bad - a regression for a hard fought thing. Characterizing all such critiques as the same reduces the toolset we have to answer things like the alt right.

It's definitely a catch-22. In the vein of 'do no harm', I'd tend towards delaying it, even though it might be harder later, rather than proactively pushing a treatment that will later be revealed to be a mistake. It

I'm certainly not attributing malice to it, or conscious choice. As someone else said, the newfound acceptance of talking about it could have made it a new outlet of attention seeking. Most people at that stage in their life don't

I can't help but wonder how much is attention seeking - wanting to feel special, different - which is a disservice to those who really would normally have this... Condition sounds negative, but I'll use it for lack of a better ter

Is there a TL;DR? I see the whole spec is there but I don't have time to read it just this second. Does it use anything fancy like fountain codes or does it just renegotiate chunks each time or something else?

Other people have listed great books and resources. What I don't see, however, is to ask a friend. Find someone who is familiar with the notation, if not the material, and ask questions. You'll likely get a more clear answer.

I don't think you should have been downvoted. Likely, people expected you to already understand the purpose of the question because I called it a variation of FizzBuzz - which is fair as it's quite well known, though maybe not wor

As everyone else has said, it's essentially just a fizzbuzz test without using FizzBuzz. I don't need someone to write an algorithm to compute max, but I DO need someone who can take simple verbal requirements and write a progra

I feel like I'm having a math stroke. The posterior probability of p being less than 3/N for Beta(1, N+1) should be integral(Beta(1, N+1), 0, 3/N), right? That trends toward zero, so I must be wrong, but I can't for the
