Good point. We'll see how it shakes out when they aren't having record years. Hotels typically have about a 5 year cycle. Families can get a more memorable experience and usually a more economical one with a home rental. My proper

“Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.” (Benjamin Franklin) The only thing that separates us from other countries is our Constitution.

Fully agree - it should really be a protected clause for employment. Let's say the 50% that support the left controls all the jobs as an example. Then you can fire the opposition if you don't fall in line and do what you're t

Yes it is comparable to Node. Most benchmarks show PHP with blocking calls against async Node calls. PHP has the tools to do async no problem. I use ReactPHP all the time to do this stuff; it works great for fast scraping. See an older coun

The US also only pays lip service to the enumerated powers. Separation of church and state doesn't mean you're entitled to various federally funded benefits, regardless of your beliefs. At the state level - sure.

Yes exactly - those channels will be part of the a la carte option for consumers I mentioned. Right now - internet is more valuable to most people but much less expensive per month than tv in a package. TV is just not reasonably priced, esp

The difference is that those studios don't try to rewrite laws via lobbying to block their IP from entering the public domain after profiting greatly off public domain. Mickey Mouse should be released.

Disney is pretty much only a huge force from using public domain to make money, yet they routinely do things to avoid their IP from entering the public domain. Some examples [1]: - Frozen (2013) from Hans Christian Anderson’s Ice Queen (184

To add to that, they're more responsible for cable cutting than any other service. I still have tv service but I'm finding it harder and harder to talk about anything on cable with people. They'll talk about Stranger Things a

Those are definitely powerhouse IP, but Netflix has a wider range of quality content. I agree it will be a challenge, but if you look at the talent that appears to want to work with Netflix and do originals, I wouldn't rule out the par

Public usage can and should be managed locally as another topic though don't you think? As far as recreational use, fundamentally, should it be the responsibility of the government to tell you what you can and can't ingest? I don&

How so? Libertarianism allows for the control to shift to local governments where citizens can have more power over their society. It's not the absence of government but a framework to protect individual liberty. You'd still have

I came from the same camp, but what's great is you don't have to be in CS to have a great tech career these days. I was in Computer Engineering, then a more applied Engineering major and finally switched to Sales my last year and

Yes I was mistaken on the rules for professional exemptions so I apologize. They really don't apply to my company anyway since I can opt to pay less for certain roles than the minimum salary required for exemptions. Overtime spikes won

Thanks for clarifying. To color up my comment: I have been hiring Jr. Devs that have little or no experience and are doing career changes. They don't have computer science backgrounds, usually just some bootcamps and personal learning.

You can't hire them at a salary below that 2x minimum wage (41.6k) threshold for the law I noted if they're a full-time 40 hr / week employee. Yes - for the parent's law you could not have them work overtime.

Your comment is so simplistic and inaccurate. It's not lowballing and undercutting employees to pay $41.6k to lower level people for 40 hours of work. Especially when you layer on good benefits like we do that aren't accounted for

I recently found out that as of February 2016, an exempt employee working full-time in CA must be paid a minimum salary of $41,600/year. It's 2x the minimum wage. I support raising the minimum wage in itself, but if that goes up a

How does this matter for the top websites? If a user types in a domain, eventually a root dns responds with an ipv4 A record and resolves to a server the site has configured. Am I missing something?
