I don't know about movies, but music streaming is awesome. I have a couple thousand CDs that are sitting in a closet somewhere. For a while I kept them as mp3s on a hardrive, copied other people's mp3s to build up my collection. B

Most popular languages have massive ecosystems. Don't see Python's being a differentiator except for a few specialized areas. In fact, the project I'm on runs on spark wrapped by python libraries, so really its the scala libr

Why not just use a statically type language? I really don't understand why python is so popular outside of a few specialized areas.

Totally agree. I'm on a project using python for the first time and really can't believe how horrible it is to not have type checking, especially given that it takes time to run the code as a glue job.

My apogee duet sucked. Always had problems being recognized by logic and eventually they stopped providing updates to the software. Got a Motu M4 which is much cheaper and has been worlds better.

It still suffers from being returned as a separate value so not easy to chain methods together.

Hold on. I'm still complaining about generics since its still not possible to write a generic map function on a struct.

I agree 40 and 60 can look similar but from what I've seen, being young at 60 is due more to taking care of yourself than genetics.

"he need for reading glasses varies quite a bit and is probably a good yardstick. Some people get their first reading glasses at 40 other’s 60, that’s a huge range." I'd like to meet someone at 60 who hasn't aged. They m

I never found domain driven design to be an extension of object oriented design or microservices. Its mainly a way of organizing your code so it doesn't turn into a big ball of mud at some point.

I don't understand why $600K in revenue wasn't a giant red flag. Maybe they don't tell the employees the revenue numbers? If so, that is a giant red flag.

Not as long as it takes to understand microservices, distributed computing, AWS cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, sql, no-sql, etc, etc.

I would target a constrained area like android development, which has a limited set of technologies you need to master. Also, the feedback cycle is rewarding since you actually see your changes, and its good contractor work.

I'm surprised to learn that copyright doesn't take into account the length of notes, which to me is part of what makes melodies unique.

Its just business. Companies pass losses onto other customers. Who do you think pays the medical bills for all those can't pay? Who pays for the public transportation, certainly not the riders. I would love to only pay for stuff I bene

The past few companies I was at, we discussed whether we wanted a single or multiple repos. But that was a separate conversation from microservices, so I don't think its unusual to have a monorepo with microservices.

Of course teenagers can get themselves to school. The problem is with younger kids. They will basically have to go to daycare before school, making their day even longer.

They just released Scala 3 this this year so hardly stagnant. The community seems to promoting more pragmatic functional approaches recently which I think is going to make Scala much more popular in the future.

Personally I'll never go back to the office except for the occasional meeting. The benefit I get to my health and well being from not commuting, is far too great. I also think that offices are just a power trip by the company leaders.
