I made a simple HTML page with a large font that said "You're working on XYZ" and set it to be my home page. Embarrassingly, I was very productive that week. Even though I didn't keep up with updating the HTML to represent what I was workin

My very non-technical company has worked tirelessly at running their organization in the way bettermeans describes. And while I am privileged to work in such an environment, their execution of these concepts have been horrendous. I've tried

I've played with Compass/Less/Sass before and got turned off by the preprocessors. They all just gave me a bit more than I bargained for. But I hadn't realized that the plugin/mixin support had grown so much. I'll keep this in mind while wo

I asked this same question a few months ago and got all of the same answers. It's frustrating. When everything else we work with has modules and plugins, you would think CSS would be no exception. http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=134127

What other competitors does Mogo have? I don't ask to go elsewhere, I ask because coincidentally I decided this morning was the day for me to find a better solution to all the crap I've been tolerating for so long in my cross-browser compat

I'm was in the same place as you and have recently evaded this feeling by distracting myself with other projects. (I bet I'm the best boat restorer in the discussion now! I kid.) I'm curious though; how do you feel now that you've gotten th

I absolutely agree. I was destroying myself over not meeting my own expectations as a developer. I've always had other interests but refused them. My thinking was that my discipline would pay off as I became a better programmer and applied

I'm thrilled that you responded. I haven't yet had the opportunity to sort through the various links and what not, but I am eager to explore more about the topic. I'm confused though, about my email address. It appears that I have it entere

I think you've posed the exact hangups I have been trying to identify for so long. In the same message you even respond exactly as I would and label them as "hackable and fixable". I'm even more floored that you can so easily assert the ba

People with smaller/medium businesses don't typically put a lot of emphasis on websites (based on my measure/references). Users of these services probably acknowledge that fact and have grown accustomed to scheduling appointments by phone.

It seems that there is no readily available solution. So if I were to create one, it would go something like this: href="theme-base-renegade.css" theme-base-renegade would style all of the default markup in its own styleish little way. What

Yeah, I have used that before too. It does a great job of removing the browser defaults. What I dislike, is that it forces me to have to start from scratch (reset.css scratch) in order to make a project at all readable/usable.
