I would frame it more that AI will cause the value of knowledge to plummet. College provides knowledge but never provided expertise. That comes from experience in the real world. Capturable value has always been in the application of know

Because Amazon is not really a web store - that's the "easy" bit. Amazon is really a logistics company. It took something like 20 years of insane investment and no shareholder returns to build this out in the US.

Yup. That was such an embarrassing incident and their postmortem of it was worse. They actually thought being transparent about how bad their engineering was would do them favours.

No the Enterprise Cloud is just the same GitHub.com with the same shitty reliability. However the newer Enterprise Cloud with Residency (aka on Azure) is a separate partition and has a different reliability domain (still subject to Azures b

The underlying reason is more that by being in us east coast you have about equal latency for customers in us west coast and Europe. That's a very large population covered from a single site. If you're building a single datacenter

There was an recent article on X with an interesting take - it could be that companies are doing layoffs not because AI is making them more productive but because it hasn't . Their costs have gone up paying for expensive AI but haven&

Complete fiction. Over covid it was common in big tech layoffs to get much less severance in Europe than US.

Cutting salaries to pay the AI costs for the remaining engineers. Going to be rough as this trickles through the entire economy over the next 10 years.

You realize natural gas is one of the more environmentally friendly methods of generating power. Lots of work went into moving to natural gas generation to improve the environmental impact for electricity generation. This is nothing like bu

For those who haven't been following the build out. xAI has added about 500MW of nvidia gpu capacity in ~April and will add another 500MW before the end of the year totaling about 2GW.

I'm thinking the same. Downgrade to Pro and use OpenRouter (same price) for overage. Seems a massive loss for Microsoft. Presumably there's a further rugpull to come.
