The title 'MySQL 6.0 Nixed' sounds so negative; it should probably be something more along the lines of 'MySQL starts cleaning up their act' ;) I, for one, welcome the promise of more regular releases with open arms.

Ha, this might sound silly but I'm on Linux so I can't see your app through that link. What is it, what does it do? Curious.

I'm disappointed to see that each of these TypePad Motion deployments will be closed on it's own, instead of hooking into some kind of distributed TypePad Motion network. At any rate it's open source... looking forward to what comes out of

As far as I know: these REE releases/patches are for 1.8.7, a release of Ruby that isn't quite being actively developed, only maintained. Stuff similar to this is being folded into the official Ruby interpreter, which is now at 1.9.1 (1.9

I wonder what the overhead of doing this as Rack Middleware is versus just putting it into your layout. This is markup, it belongs in your layout files. You're really just disorganizing your app by putting this into middleware.

I feel like a complete jerk for saying this (partly because Sunlight Labs is a non-profit), but it suffers from what I like to call the snippet marketing syndrome: 4 - 5 lines of code being fancied up into a 10 - 30 line "plugin" with heavy

These are slides from a presentation I believe. Does anyone have the original audio or video? Nevertheless, they are fantastic. If anyone has links to similar presentations for other languages, I'd love to take a look.

I could build their example twitter client in Cocoa in roughly the same time and with roughly the same LoC metrics. I'm not saying that because I have a big penis, I'm just wondering what the true value of these cross platform tools are...

I love what Guido had to say about this when choosing a DCVS for Python: It's hard to explain my reasons for choosing -- like most language decisions (especially the difficult ones) it's mostly a matter of gut feelings. One thing I know is

This is not to say that implementing C# is a bad thing. Free C# implementations permit users to run their C# programs on free platforms, which is good. (The GNU Project has an implementation of C# also, called Portable.NET.) I don't get i
