Russia is self-isolating right now. They are trying to standardize on one engine that does not have ties with West. E.g. they do not want to be at mercy of Unity or Epic. This is a bid for that piece of government sponsorship.

Every new generation reinvents stuff previous generation tried and hated. I think it is natural and kind of funny. I’ve been doing software for over 20 years + being obsessed since late 90s and I especially enjoy oscillations between server

As a proud Republican, you calling some point of view "far right" does not automatically invalidate it, no matter what you think. Dismissing alternative opinions makes you seem bigotted, not more intelligent.

Blood letting and lobotomies were believed to be "life-saving" and grounded in science. I am willing to bet there had been quite a few kids with mental issues that received lobotomy back then would end up getting "gender affi

Also, why didn't you ask me if I call all medicines "a poison" - or only one for cancer patients?

I always thought radio was less damaging overall. I had been a caregiver for a family member with cancer and I recall radiation was causing burns, nausea, fatigue - but chemo was 100x all that. Chemo accumulates over weeks (she had one sess

I remember there was at least one video game (some turn-based tactics game, don't recall the name) that had Access as a savegame format. It was very convenient to edit the save file.

“Reality” had always been fragmented. People across the mountain range would have different beliefs, measurement units and traditions. E.g. talk to people from different countries which food is healthy or what to do to prevent cold.

Ha. I barely recall details (it was 30 years ago) but I remember there was a trick to somehow run Windows 3.x to make the game believe your system had more RAM that it actually did. Don't remember details, but remember it _mostly worke

Things like Eclipse IDE, IntelliJ and such are packages and not the products. Think distinction between Linux distro and Linux kernel. E.g. my former team used to ship "IDE" - that is, use new project wizard to setup your folder,

What is an IDE? As someone who worked on IDEs approx between 2003 and 2014 (I did not like the market afterwards, commercial IDEs I basically impossible now unless you are legacy, like JetBrains). What is an IDE? Personally, I consider IDE

It's just the state of the web. Google search uses metrics for the web sites (number of links, etc) so Reddit threads do not rank high compared to real web sites.
