By their very nature, decentralized processing systems have exponential complexity, so this is very welcome to see released. But oh how I hate having to go back into Java :)

Qwikster.com was registered in May 2010. This was not an overnight decision and I doubt even the contrition in the blog post wasn't well planned.

Been working from home for six months and this echoes a bit too painfully close to the truth. My wife kicks me out daily right now.

A lot of the Waldorf style schools ( http://www.whywaldorfworks.org/ ) seem like this in the US. I went to a "multi-year" school where my classes were K-3 and 4-6. They were very much rooted in "pace" based learning instead of year based, a

I have a discussion board that I've run for over ten years. While I'm not as invested in running it anymore, the reason I keep it online and active and maintained is because it contains within it the narrative histories of a group of people

I don't delete any data, and in fact on my Drobo and RAID on our home server I have files going back to Jr. High. I often look at how my parents remember things, like my dad remembering his now deceased parents and realize that memory for m

Then why even put Metro on if they are striving for only half a level of perfection? Why not wait until they've got it solid before releasing? What would make me very pleased is if they delayed 6 months to get it right rather than rush it o

What kills Google+'s utility and might kill Facebook's stream is the lack of a way to keep track of my high-water mark of what I read through the stream, and always feeling the perception that the software is keeping things from me. Whereas

I disagree actually. I think cohesiveness should be a pre-requisite for the release of this.

I'm speaking from the beta. The act of going between a "traditional" looking UI and Metro and what is available in each is very disjointed.

Metro to me, and I hate to say it, reminds me of MS Bob, and frankly of the original Windows 3.1 except where in that case it was a layer on DOS, this seems like a gloss on Windows 7. I hope for the sake of innovation I'm wrong, but it is f

This will end well. Newspapers have ALWAYS been the bastian of technological innovation, especially with proprietary products. Why I remember Delphi, CD-I, "download a PDF of our Quark Files!," and hell, the BBS I ran for one. 60 year old n

It's my dad's sister. Crohn's can be genetic and it seems to be more common in Eastern Europe (Ashkenazi) descendent Jews. See here as a jumping off point for that: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_genetics_of_Jewish_peop...

Why was Microsoft in such a hurry as to release a preview of an OS before the ecosystem was capable of handling it? Explain how putting this out with substandard hardware does anything to bolster confidence from either users or developers?

Again, "the question is: which approach is right?" assumes that either company COULD change their approach. Should they? Don't conflate what is reality with what could be. If that was the case there wouldn't be an iPad (or X-Box, or Metro).

No, what is being discussed is using a developer build of a very alpha-state software as a comparison point against something released that has tens of millions of devices in the market.
