Big +1 for this. Or maybe some sort of integration with RescueTime (not sure how, but why not)

Wow. As irony would have it, during a procrastinatory fit today, I wandered onto HN for the first time in weeks. Saw this, and it seems like it's exactly what I've been looking for lately! I've been intensely struggling with

It may have 0 environmental impact, but at least it's a step in the right direction for reversing our 'disposable society'. Really, though, if you're that concerned about the environment and you JUST HAVE TO HAVE STARBU

I would argue that double-entry accounting is a technology that obviates the need for trust between humans (by delegating it to books and arithmetic), and therefore erodes civilization.

I've been having a good experience with duolingo so far. The lessons are short enough to not impose, and the difficulty curve is very low, so I don't dread getting everything wrong. I've been at it for two months, and have n

Didn't Yahoo do this more than 10 years ago? I remember playing a lot of checkers as a lab monitor in college.

Meteor is still pretty great. It's an all-in-one (including database) framework that uses JavaScript for both back and front ends. It's build tool also saves you from having to configure things like Babel, Webpack, SASS, etc...

This was my experience exactly. Seemed like a great idea at the time, but always required some sort of maintenance at various times that required researching solutions, posting on message boards, and trial-and-error. Basically, it's

This does occur in some states. Some students get loans repaid if they contract to work in rural areas for 5 years. I think this is still a symptom of too few graduates. The acceptance rate of US medical schools fluctuates around 20%, so

This may be partially true, but my anecdotal evidence points elsewhere. I live in a very poor city in the US, and most of the private hospitals here run a surplus. The problem (like in tech) is finding adequate talent. Doctors and nurse

Database access from the browser is not baked in. This is a misunderstanding. Meteor has a browser cache that mimics a subset of Mongo commands, and auto-syncs with the back-end based on security rules you define.
