Even with the tax incentive the Model 3 doesn't make perfect economic sense. Then again, neither does any new car over a used Honda Civic. There are very legitimate reasons for the government to incentivize EVs, even if only middle or

That remains to be seen. There's no evidence yet. As I already said, people have been making that exact argument for years.

For the first ~10 years of existence they were barely a company. That Tesla has almost nothing in common with today's Tesla, not even Elon Musk. Not sure time since incorporation is the best metric.

People have been making that exact argument for years. There have been so many "Tesla killers" that I've lost count. None have panned out. The Taycan is roughly twice as expensive as the equivalent Model S Tesla and has great

Spiegel is remarkably and consistently wrong about everything related to TSLA, yet always full of sound and fury about it. From the aspect of a relatively neutral observer (me, although I like Tesla) he's a remarkable character study.

So this sentence is uncontroversial? Somehow I never came across this idea in my genetics PhD. > The main stabilizer of the DNA double helix is not the base-pair hydrogen bonds but coin-pile stacking of base pairs, whose hydrophobic cohe

Nope, do not believe so. The short tail with a vertical back is called the Kamm effect. It's a mix between having a practical design and minimizing drag. The numbers do not lie; there is a reason the Prius has an extremely low drag coe

Also, the Model 3 is a desirable, attractive car and something of a status symbol. The Nissan Leaf 2 looks like an appliance in comparison.

Cars are hugely complex, regulated, expensive, relatively low-margin products. Many parts are outsourced to subcontractor firms. So a lot of manufacturer success actually does come to supply chain management.

Ridiculous comparison on aftermarket tires. Tires are everything for lap times.

Not sure what you mean... A Prius is actually one of the single best production cars around in terms of aerodynamics (Cd around 0.24). That stubby tail is actually done on purpose because it reduces drag, not increases it as you claim. A lo

I hate to nitpick, but a Prius isn't a great comparison since they have pretty good drag coefficients.

1) Huge number, but why would you need an entire year of energy in reserve 2) If there was a desire to build that many batteries, cost would surely decrease exponentially as new mines, factories, etc. open up and competition increases.

If gold is 50mm a ton (wouldn't be of they had to liquidate that), rounding up, then they have at most 100 billion in Gold. Which sounds like a lot until you realize they have many trillions in USD reserves and debt.

This is a kind of revisionist argument that I read a lot. The Bretton Woods system only existed for about 30 years until it collapsed from a variety of pressures; it was unsustainable. Even during its short lifetime various suboptimal polic

You'd have to ignore the substantial progress Tesla has made to date against overwhelming odds. Will return to this in 30 years!
