I think games might be one of the few artistic mediums currently immune to the estrangement described in this article. For example, "Her Story", a decidedly "not beautiful" game with somewhat off-putting visuals, receive

Thanks, yeah I tried something equivalent to this (SetProcessDpiAwareness, as mentioned by another commenter). It broke some other SDL stuff though. I'm just gonna have to screw around with it when release time comes.

Yeah I tried that before and it solved the problem, but then it broke some other aspects of SDL. Can't quite remember, I think fullscreen got messed up. There's code in SDL specifically for high DPI, but it's confusing and pr

Aftermarket Xbox 360 controllers. I've seen other Linux SDL games work with 360 controllers, so I assume the problem is on my end. I just wanted to contest the notion that SDL "just works". It still takes a lot of fiddling un

As a current SDL2 user: it is not fantastic and it does not just work. - On Windows, DPI scaling is broken (ask for a 1280x720 window, get 1600x900) - On Mac, mouse locking is broken - On Linux, my Xbox gamepads don't work at all - Req

I've been building and iterating little toy CMSes for years, each one a little better. Current version pros: - SQLite makes deployment and backups a breeze. I can also copy the SQLite file to create two versions of the site: "draf

Anyone else snicker at the bit about page faults on page 8? Apple is apparently now promoting the use of mmap: > While this is a “solution”, it introduces the possibility of the user encountering page faults, which is an error/excep

I use both AMD and Nvidia on Ubuntu. For both GPUs, every OS upgrade is a toss-up as to whether things will work or not.

Linux pretty much solved the "where are all my apps" problem. If we can just figure out the "why doesn't my graphics card work" problem, we'll be set.

It's easy to get your own code to run on 3.x. The challenge is making sure all your C library dependencies run on it. And Python is nothing without its vast library ecosystem.
