Check this out if you understand scala: https://github.com/sangria-graphql/sangria-akka-http-example Pulling data from a datastore is up to you. You can use whatever library you like to pull data in. All you have to do

There's been some mention of supporting subscriptions, but I haven't heard anything about implementation. I think it's on their roadmap.

There are several implementations. There's a reference in javascript based on express, sangria for scala, and I read on a blog post about people working on a ruby server. See: http://facebook.github.io/react/blog&#

Or to be blunt: It's about 1:30 long, with 1:29 of that people taking photos. There's about a second of a guy tweaking parameters on a computer to change the aperture, etc, in post processing.

Yeah that sounds comparatively exorbitant to me. It's not exactly "only pay for what you use" in the sense they normally apply it. I was expecting $0.0000x per request or something...

I guess it all comes down to how you're meant to determine where someone's data should be stored. Is it by their nationality? What if your app gains popularity outside your launch country? Are you suddenly on the hook for not havi

Exactly. There's a bit of "pulling up the ladder" here. The guys who got in when the Internet was still the wild west got established without all this overhead. There will be an enormous burden on new businesses satisfying th

Yeah good luck setting up a startup now. If other countries follow Russia's suit, we'll soon end up having to somehow determine where a user is from (what if they're roaming, etc.?) so we can shard the datastore across multip

Yeah the views are all just react.js. The JS for the webapp is dumb so can be served by S3 (i.e. no server-side rendering). It's basically REST++ - a pure server that just serves data (sangria/graphQL server) and a decoupled clien

Sangria is a scala GraphQL server. Facebook released an initial reference implementation in javascript, but I wanted the type-safety that scala gives. If you're more comfortable with JS you could check that out. See https://

Sangria is scala. React is the client in the browser. That doesn't run on the JVM.

I'm building something with React + Relay + Sangria and it's working out well so far. There's a sample sangria project showing how to use it on akka-http, and if you write a pure web app like this, you could serve the javascr

I'm just finishing my first relay/react app. This stack is amazing. It will blow REST away. This time next year I'd be surprised if people are still creating REST servers for greenfield projects. Seriously, it's a game c
