I wonder how many terrabytes of storage would be saved by people realising these exist and not relying on thousands of tiny npm packages to do their own implementation of what some of these API's do.

Used to talk to the guy that founded them, he was a stand up chap. Great to see they're still around. They used to be a ResellerClub/DirectI reseller but like me (also ran a registrar) they were moving away due to the crappy servi

I've been using PorkBun for a couple of years now. It reminds me of Namecheap in their earlier years. A much simpler UI, great support and decent/fair prices.

I'd bet it was NameCheap screwing up. They've really gone down the pan over the last few years.

Yeah tbh I think they just gave up on it. It's running on autopilot these days with very little being done to turn it back into an actual community instead of a place where all you see is dead or dying low effort moneygrabs.

Only when done right. When low-effort posting of said build in public data is done it just looks spammy. It's the IndieHackers problem, that whole site is full of people going "I agree, I did that with <mysite>.com"

Genuinely curious here as I dont think I have ever watched anyone on twitch. Compared to software dev as an example - a very mentally taxing job, what comparable challenges do twitch streamers have?

Whilst its fantastic (and to be honest a little surprising) that the mission went without any major issues (and the staff at NASA are obviously to be commended for their efforts), the whole project still feels like 'the wrong solution

it'll be stable when the JS community stops reinventing the wheel several times a year. Every year we have the 'next big thing' and a whole new JS framework and ecosystem thats set to be the one to beat them all. Fast forward

Not OP but I'd personally recommend Laravel over Symfony if you're just getting back into it. Fundimentally they are very similar, but Laravel's less of a learning curve and these days has a significantly larger community. Th

None of this is on PHP the language. The roadmap is extremely clear for PHP. The problem is the likes of Wordpress having no oversight on their plugin directory. Really they should've stopped accepting new listings / updates for p

Using a shared hosting provider is a choice you're making there though. If you know you're going to be managing legacy codebases for a while you're far better off spinning up your own box on cloudlinux, which has PHP security

For a maps app I'd imagine it'll be more a case of businesses will be able to 'boost' themselves to people in the area. Slapping big banner ads across a maps app isnt going to generate much ROI given most people will be

I used to fly over to the US a couple of times a year for family holidays (from the UK) and almost always went on a 747, the difference in comfort was massive. We often flew with a small little airline called 'Travel City Direct'

The worst part of being a British developer is having to go through someone elses code and find they used 'colour' all over the damn place. Just stick to how the rest of the world accepted the use of 'color' instead!

Really odd that it differs so close to neighbouring countries. Here (UK) I've never seen a Dishwasher without a salt hole, and there's often several well know brands of salt in the supermarket (no idea why, its all the same stuff)
