Except Microsoft has kept github basically the same as it was when they bought it, added features regularly and removed the need to pay for certain features that were once premium. I'd accept your argument if it was say Oracle, but MSF

I'll never get why people keep throwing money at web3 stuff. It's pretty clear 99% of it is total crap that nobody is going to adopt in serious numbers.

This does kind of work but you're still restricted to 8 messages before the whole dom changes and prevents any further interaction.

Not so sure it can be compared to IE. For one thing IE was 'there' on your desktop. You'd have to actively choose to install Ubuntu over another distro in most cases. IE was based around gatekeeping your choices. The same can

Which is why dog harnesses exist for cars - not really rocket science.

Guessing its not much of a 'thing' in the US but in the UK you have a harness that goes around the dog onto a stiff bungee type cord. It plugs into the seatbelt and allows them to move around on the seat but stops them being launc

I dont think Intel or Nvidia got the memo on this. Both are pumping out seemingly more and more desparate products where their solution to more performance is just to throw more power at it, causing obscene levels of heat in the process. Me

The articles out of date already. Bing/Sydney has now been neutered to the point where it can barely function as a basic low-effort search bot, let alone a full blown api.

I've been playing with it today. It's shockingly easy to get it to reveal its prompt and then get it to remove certain parts of its rules. I was able to get it to repond more than once, do an unlimited number of searches, swear, f

Probably some backwards thought that it means people will buy their newspapers on their pointless commute that didn't need to happen.

Honestly this is a pretty weak argument. The number of companies taking part in the survey is pitifully inadequate to gain any real useful insight.

The bigger question is why do they suddenly need this to such a degree that they need to do a backhand tactic to get the data? Most other programming languages have no such data and have survived and thrived for years, decades even before G

I didn't say it was slow. I said on low end iPads people dont typically have a need to connect things to its USB, certainly nothing that would have any benefit from USB 3.

On a low end iPad very few people have a need for any devices to connect to it via usb, even fewer than would benefit from usb3 speeds.

The individual components are (e.g camera and screen) but in terms of the SOC they're still several years ahead of the competition on performent to power consumption, arguably the most important part of a mobile device.

What do you mean why not? If a forum embeds an image from imgur and imgur ceases to exist the image stops working. It doesn't matter if archive.org has a copy, you wont be able to see it without manually going to archive.org to find ev

Time to let the free software foundation know. Is this something they are likely to help the authors of the IP theft take action against Voice AI for if they refuse to comply?

I'd imagine it'll be something they do. Hooking it into things you've told assistant, documents you've stored, emails, calendar events, map data, etc. Pretty creepy and a tad dystopian but thats Google for you.

Do we actually know the budget behind ChatGPT? I know Microsoft has thrown money at them and are providing a huge amount of cloud resources but beyond that I've missed any mention of the funding/costs.

A lot of its the buzz. 'Cloud Hosting' is something everyone thinks they need, despite not grasping why, or that the chances are they arent getting cloud hosting at all, just a VPS. A solid dedicated server is 99% of the time far

This is a bit flawed. By providing a non-ai photo it just picks up similar photos and claims they were used to generate it. It's a nice, but as I say, flawed concept.

Be careful what you wish for. Here in the UK since leaving the government have been doing all they can to ensure mass surveilance and repression becomes more and more common, without those "pesky" EU laws stopping them.
