Most of this just boils down to people designing themes not understanding accessibility when it comes to color. If they followed the WCAG Color Contrast guidelines it'd be a mostly non issue.

Honestly think we're beyond that now. They need stripping of all government contracts - obviously not in one go as theres currently no alternatives in many cases. They certainly should be banned from being involved in anything going fo

It's baffling that Apple has a powerful ecosystem and hardware at their fingertips and yet nobody in management has thought that maybe, just maybe they need an outside hire who's got experience in the gaming industry. For a compan

NPM is hands down the worst package management system of modern times. I can't count the number of times we've inherited projects only to find half the packages are gone, broken or riddled with so many holes that they arent viable

It may be more prominent with the React crowd but not exclusive. You see it all the time, lets use React, no Vue, no Nuxt, no Next, no this, no that. The constant ecosystem switching is tiring.

Ah this would explain why I cant get on heathrow.com on wifi but can on mobile. Looks like some sort of distribution issue (dns still resolving fine). It's been like it since around 11am (UK Time, its now 2:53pm)

Javascripts fine, its the crummy ecosystem with awful backwards compatability and the shiny object syndrome most JS devs seem to have thats the issue. I actively avoid using JS not because its bad (i mean, syntax wise its pretty awful but w

I use it too...but it's a really poor app. Search is incredibly slow and clunky, discovery is nonexistant, they've still got the same shuffle logic bugs they had in iTunes, etc. The most annoying part is they CDN from California f

For amateur footage it's absolutely fine, especially in this instance where it's actually a benefit. Nobodys advocating for vertical movies or tv shows. There's far better things to focus false internet collective outrage at.

In fairness to them they've only just taken control, and have already said they are reforming British Rail, and are reviewing HS2. It's not a click of the fingers thing to fix.

100% nix based here so thankfully zero systems affected. Everything from routers to devices, we have a total blanket ban on any Windows based software.

Nah they'll be fine. It happened 7 months ago on a smaller scale, people forgot about that pretty quickly. You don't ditch the product over something like this as the alternative is mass hacking.

BBC are doing a rare awful job. I've got BBC News on here in the UK and they just keep saying a "Microsoft IT outage".

This kinda highlights the exact issue I'm talking about. "Just open this, add that, change this, build that...sure it may work, but it's far too much effort for a journal."

Evey time I've tried essentially journaling for my own sanity I get too bogged down in the way to actually do it. Logseq and Obsidian are often mentione but by the time I've figured out how the hell to use thier obscure syntax (wh

With some of the earlier ones that may have been the case as many were simply melting small blobs of metal and dropping them onto eachother. The newer ones act a lot more like a welder. It's why it's been possible to 3d print rock

Biodegradable plastics typically have a melting temp on the lower end. PLA for example is 60c. I'm not sure many people would be happy coming back to their car to open the door to a plastic blob on their floor.

PLA (biodegradable corn) is often sold as being a good biodegradable plastic. It ommits the part where its only biodegradable in a high pressure, high heat industrial composter. If you put PLA in your home composter it'll still be exac

Its slow because it's read by a camera. That takes extra steps, and like you mention, lighting conditions. A QR code has to be detected, read and decoded, and thats after the image is processed. An NFC is orders of magnitude faster. He

QR Codes are fine for one off event entries. For a transport medium that requires fast high volumes of people to go through its an awful idea. QR Code reading is slow, you can't avoid that.

You can also sometimes get it very cheap via random country specific deals. They had one last year for Latvian students. Excecpt it had zero checks in place to ensure you actually were a student. I think I paid something like $4 for a year

So your issue isnt the openness in terms of being limited on what you can do on it, and more that you want it to be bloated with drivers for millions of various pieces of hardware like Windows, got it.
