Research is literally predicated on showing results that are better than the state of the art. Without that judgment on other work there can be no progress in research!

According to the linked article, it took only 2 reports to lead to an investigation and to the decision that the CoC was violated. So a vocal minority, when not ignored, can sometimes have a big impact.

"Arguments are not soldiers" is so very well put. Unfortunately if you don't choose a camp you often end up in the cross-fire.

Is it reasonable to consider using Discord as an online forum for residents of a condo building? I'm looking for something cheap/free, easy to use and to set up.

Slashdot does this to some extent. Moderators are invited to choose from a small subset of tags. The most used tag by the moderators is listed next to the comment's karma. Your idea would be a generalization of what Slashdot does, and

Very neat! How much work would it be to write ROS bindings so you could control robots easily with it? Googling around, I found one team that has done it with Pharo: http://car.imt-lille-douai.fr/category/software/

I seem to recall the Aiwas tended to have EQ on the front, sometimes lined up diagonally. My first "Walkman" was a Toshiba (so technically it wasn't a Walkman) model from 1984, one of the first that came with a FM/AM cas

Wouldn't datalog be more suitable than SQL in this case? And in case the DB you want to query offers SQL only, I imagine there are datalog-SQL bridges available somewhere.

Fair point. There's a sweet spot to be found between full-on crowd-sourcing and giving all the power to 2-3 blind reviewers. Maybe limit the participants to be the members of the technical committee? Or maybe expand it to include membe

A couple of ideas I've been mulling over for a while: - the quicker but less rigorous way: set things up like a forum like HackerNews, let the crowd-sourced upvote and comment system work its magic; make the karma/reputation point
