Being stopped is a huge benefit of Pomodoro for me. It gives the brain a cooldown period to back out of stupid decisions/patterns, and to connect pieces that it wasn’t necessarily focusing on. It’s amazing the silly mistakes I’ll catch

If helicopter parenting is trending up while traffic accidents including kids are trending down, isn’t that more likely to be evidence in favor of helicopter parenting?

Exactly. I came to the conclusion that for me it was an environment/discipline issue because (among other things) my severe-ADHD friends would try the same tactics with 0 effect. If I can manage attention issues with lifestyle changes

For a while there I thought I had ADHD, and started looking for avenues to get diagnosed. But when I talked more with some friends who have serious cases of it, I started to doubt. Instead of going for the medication, I removed distracting

I do the same. And while it’s frustrating that nothing seems to stick long-term, I think it’s important to be trying. I’ll create a recurring to-do list of errands and I’ll stick to it for a week if I’m lucky. It feels bad when I find all t

I would recommend starting with Spirited Away . It has a bit faster pacing than some of the others, and tons of interesting creatures that really show off the character design prowess. I love Miyazaki and Ghibli films in general, but they

My ring is vintage, the lab-grown emerald replacing whatever stone it used to hold. I imagine that brought down the price. My preference generally is for well-kept vintage jewelry. Beyond thriftiness, there’s an extra charm to wearing somet

I and most of my friends (late 20s to early 30s) have non-diamond engagement rings. The consensus is that diamonds are outdated, exploitative, and scammy. I also think they’re not as pretty/eye-catching as my lab-grown emerald.

Tumblr is the only social media site that truly hooks me for hours at a time anymore. So while I’d be sad to see it go and take all its lovely fan communities down… I would get a lot of my time back.

In the US it varies between companies, but it’s not all that difficult to avoid places that expect extra overtime, or to say “no” when it’s requested in most cases. Eventually they stop asking you, ime. I’m unsure whether declining has a ne

I fear this will be one of those moments where all the fun, quirky fanon about the Zelda universe will go ignored. We can only pray that the casting isn’t bland and that they choose Link-as-unpredictable-hellion to script the character

From what I’ve read, quite a few studies have shown a correlation between social media use and mental disorders in teen girls that isn’t nearly as pronounced for boys.

Per #2, the article you linked doesn’t conclude that DEI isn’t valuable, rather that it’s usually not executed effectively. > That doesn't mean DEI efforts don't work. It is possible to create a program that spurs real change.

The “tortured artist” trope is overplayed in media vs. the reality. I don’t have the sources on hand, but you might enjoy looking into it: truly prolific and influential artists tend to be those who had stable/comfortable/long eno
