redistribution in a non-compatible license is also a GPL violation. Source present or not. You can't release a forked GPL product under e.g. the BSD license

Google does have a conflict of interest. The best case scenario is a better internet, but only for google products for them. People love google, but it's a for-profit company, not a foundation. Chrome would not be the first abandoned proje

I don't think it's really relevant. The point is not that there is a way to have safe nuclear energy, the point is that the worst case scenario is catastrophic, and that I don't trust any company or government to do what's necessary, especi

So 15 more years, basically. Man, that's depressing. What's fast becoming the standard for HTML5 video has 15 more years of not being truly free. I wonder what mozilla will do about that.

on that note, does anyone know what patents for h.264 are still valid, and for how much longer? I've been looking for that info for quite a while now, without success.

Why don't they just add a damn map mode already? I get it, they don't want to change "the secret formula", so make craigslistmapper.com as an extension of craigslist. Everyone who doesn't want to deal with mapping can stay at craigslist.

This is not how that works -- if you buy a game for windows on steam, the mac version is free. I've tried this personally, and I expect the same will be true for linux as well. In other words, pay once, get the game for all OS', updating au

so basically sort of a reverse kickstarter for open source. That's brilliant. I love it. I would sponsor someone fixing moving selections in gimp. I cannot figure out how to do it. There has to be a more intuitive method.

Completely bypassing any standards bodies, as usual, I assume. No thanks. I'll stick to the browser made by a foundation, not a for-profit company trying to gain control over the web. I remember IE6.

It's definitely not the worst, but I don't think they should have asked him at all, and (more importantly) let him redirect the old site for more than a year.

Agreed! Maybe it can take a life on it's own. No use shedding tears over what's done, but open sourcing it would at least mean there is a net gain for the world from it all.
