My take on this is that theranos started out with good intentions, and just hasn't been able to make it happen so they are trying to buy time. The early stage investments were probably sound, but later rounds are a little questionable.

Between this and the "wireless energy over ultrasound" scam I'm starting to wonder if VCs actually do any due diligence at all.

This seems like an amazing job and I am a bit jealous. I often wish I'd chosen a different path in life.

for sure. A fleet of electric self driving cabs will be the tipping point for city and near-city residents to stop driving.

It's inconvenient. My car takes me from right where I am, to exactly where I want to go, exactly when I want it to, in a minimum of time. Public transportation takes me from sort of where I am, to the general area I want to go, slowly,

I turned off GPS on mine for that exact reason. If your speed is +- 10 mph the average speed of traffic, it's not a factor. Unless you're an insurance company, of course, and then it's a great excuse to deny a claim.

I got the transcend drivepro 200 with the suction mount. I picked it because the video quality day and night were rated near the top, and it has wifi so I can configure it/download videos easily from my phone. http://smile.a

I've been driving with a camera for over a year now. While I haven't needed it for evidence of any sort, I do enjoy being able to create movies of enjoyable drives and idiot drivers from time to time :) I worry less about people i

Why do you say the new CEO is a joke? Just curious.. he hasn't been around long enough to pass judgement on, I wouldn't think?

The problem is that all the employees are just playing minesweeper, a $3k macbook pro running windows in a VM is the wrong tool for the job. $200 notebooks are perfect.

Nice. I was on a jury where we did something similar. Guy had been charged with having a concealed weapon. He and a couple of friends had been out shooting at some remote location where it was perfectly legal to shoot. They had a bunch of d

The feather is always unlocked during ascent, in order to make sure the unlock mechanism works. If the unlock mechanism fails at apogee, the ship will not be able to decelerate appropriately and will overspeed and break up in reentry.

I'm surprised C/C++ was so high and ruby so low. I assume the C/C++ position is due to hardware hackathons mainly.

It's very surprising to me how much (apparent) recent geologic activity there is on both pluto and charon. I had expected them to be much more mercury like. Pluto was my favorite planet growing up. I never dreamed I'd get to see i

A long time ago as a joke a few of us sketched out "netfs" that would use network switch forward buffers as a filesystem in a similar manner (constant resending), but never actually tried to make it. This is really neat.
