cperciva whom you link have worked quite a bit on EC2 support for FreeBSD, a lot of it documented on their blog [0] and supported by Patreons at [1]. But yeah it would be nice if there was someone who could work on it full time [0]: https:

Do you know if there is any documentation regarding interfacing with the KTLS, eg to implement support for a new library?

Yeah it was mostly to give a example of where a wrapped type would be better than `total_cmp`. E.g. something that needs the value to implement Ord.

No but the thing is that the 64th bit will cause undefined behavior if it is set incorrectly, it will cause a interger to be seen as a pointer instead of a number. That was the reason I thought about it.

63 bit integers are actually used in Ocaml which is then used to figure out if a value is a integer or a pointer https://blog.janestreet.com/what-is-gained-and-lost-with-63-...

I think it is dangerous to look at this too much, there are other reasons that Linux got off to a better start not directly related to the license. Such as some rather serious lawsuits against FreeBSD in the past, that hurt adoption in the

I am actually not sure if a more minimal TCP stack would be the best, especially if you would need to handle packet loss because of congestion for example. For example recent work such as RACK-TLP gives certain workloads better performance,
