That is exactly what I mean by not a standard, standards are usually a bit more stable in the flow of new features than I see with a specification. That all api have been independtly implemented is news to me as I have no knowledge of any s

With POWER you at least have something like https://www.raptorcs.com/ Though I don't think they will be using POWER10, at least not this year anyways. https://twitter.com/raptorcompsys/status/

It could be really fun to have a desktop pc with a mainframe processor like that, though that is unlikely to happen. For now you can sign up at https://linuxone.cloud.marist.edu for access to a 2 vCPU LinuxONE vps running on on

The Z processors are really interesting in my opinion. I finally got around to running some benchmarks for the compression accelerator yesterday and the results are were pretty incredible resulting in up to 20 speedup for decompression and

Thought that the source code had been released, but it seems to still be missing for now. [0] There also does not seem to have been any updates the last half year, so its interesting it came up on Hacker News now. [0]: https://gi

Yeah something like this would be how I would like to see it, the trait is already there and is pretty much that (without the Copy bound though as that is not needed.) Hopefully it will end up public and can be implemented with a derive.

Doing some further research you can make the optimized initialization of the WrappedByte vector by using it as a iterator. vec![0u8; len] .into_iter() .map(|x| WrappedByte(x)) .collect::<Vec<_>>() which will g

I think a proper solution would be to expose the trait `IsZero` [0] as that is used to figure out when it is correct to use `calloc` instead of having to do `malloc` -> `memset` [1]. I don't know if there is any plans for exposing t

HackerNews would not really work in gemeni though as there are too strict limitation on how long urls can be and the only way to send data is by appending it to the url.

We have something similar in Denmark which is a agency under the defence ministry. Though compared to THW they are only around 1/3 volunteers, 1/3 conscripts not wanting to be in the military and the rest is normal payroll staff.
