While I agree with the concept of PowerToys Run, it does not work as intended for me. Tried on multiple systems. The first time I manifest it, using the designated keyboard shortcut, it does not allow me to input any characters. I have to c

dmenu/bemenu is definitely a good choice on Linux, I personally use 'em with i3. But I can see why some people would prefer their launcher to be in the middle of the screen.

Of course it can. It's built-in (see image below) VS can rename variables contained in strings and comments. Also, it's been a long time now since ReSharper was "needed" to work in VS. ReSharper also bogged down VS a lot

Can you be more specific? How is autocomplete better in Rider? Faster coming up with suggestions? More helpful suggestions? IntelliSense and IntelliCode in latest VS versions is pretty decent... Performance in VS has improved since going 64

Looks like you didn't get the nuance of the way I answered, I specifically stated creating a google.com equivalent is a big challenge. Either way, OPs statements were poorly phrased, too. A search engine consists of a lot of moving par

1. A decent search engine is something you can solo. Sounds like you are thinking of creating a google.com equivalent, which is something else. BTW: What problems have you identified that google.com has, and what are your suggested solution

Not discrediting Rust, but I've noticed you rarely hear "we improved performance" by rewriting our implementation using the same language... Although this, too, can yield similar performance improvements.

It sounds like this workplace has glaring issues with onboarding/mentoring and documentation/knowledge transfer. Maybe deeper issues, too, as it seems you're a bit afraid to ask "stupid" questions? Remember, everyon

I see substack.com has become the new medium.com, welcome to my blocklist. Lots of low-substance, clickbait articles from this domain lately. No idea how these articles manage to reach the front page.

What I feel really hurts whenever I use UE is iteration time. Everything takes too long. E.g. compilation (code, shaders), but there are lots of other examples.

Lip syncing in games continues to disappoint. LA Noire from 2011 had some artifacts, but it's still better than most games since.

How does this improve startup time for CLI tools? That only helps the developer.

E.g. Rust. Not comparing for large compiles. Like the article says, the problem is cold-start performance.

Compilation is still surprisingly slow, the new CLI tools are not a joy to use. Just look at his example and how slow dotnet run is, even for a program just outputting hello world.

App notifications are not a feature but a detrimental annoyance. Also useless, because it is very likely you cannot read the article at the moment you receive the notification, because you are busy. I don't know what Substack is, but i

I might be less happy than some other people, because I tend to overthink things and spend a lot of time "in my head", but I am at my most happy when I work (on things I care about), when I engage with that inner drive to explor
