Acute stress keeps you alive. It's a response to esp. novel and potentially harmful events. Its effects on cortisol/insulin -> diabetes however, seems to be contentious.

It's resilient and fault-tolerant. Not antifragile according to Taleb's definition. Though, no reason you could not spawn 2 (or more) new processes for every 1 that crash.

Perhaps not mutually exclusive, all programmers try to introduce as few bugs as possible; but the philosophy is in fact "let it crash", then you reset to a stable state. Not only is the programmer unburdened of the cognitive load

Open source projects are not shielded from this either. Plenty of paranoia, justified or not, going around these days. https://igurublog.wordpress.com/2014/04/08/julian-assange-de... http://www.the

Reading your comment made me think of Erlang, where the guiding principle is the opposite: large systems will contain errors, and will fail. That is what fault-tolerant is, you design your software (language, libraries and end program) in a

I would be surprised if a text editor was not performant, but then again, most new software is terrible, so, maybe the surprise now comes when something performs.

Xcode is not your only IDE option on macOS for C/C++. Decent ones: Eclipse CDT, Qt Creator, CLion.

It would not hurt, but it would be an arduous and unnecessary task. Most people know the difference, and if you do not, you can read the Wikipedia article on IDE. There is no need to have a discussion on the differences, it is not remotely

I really like CLion, you should check it out, there is a 30-day trial. Qt Creator is also a decent IDE for C++, which is free (the Qt Open Source version).

Most experienced C++ programmers just put up with it, they really want to be using something else, but have lacked, and continue to lack options. If you are experienced, however, it's not difficult to find work. Video games. Space, aer

Yes, C++ is the language of video games. Often they use a different language for game scripting (game logic and a lot of AI), but it's mostly C++ as far as the core parts go; engine systems, renderer, etc. While most tend to use third

Undercutting, even at loss, is a very common market tactic, I don't see a reason to highlight Uber for this. It is certainly not illegal. That would only happen in an extremely regulated market.

The very definition of a free market is a market free from government intervention. That's why what you have in the US, and most so-called capitalist states, have what is called a regulated market, not a free market. Another hallmark o
