Swedes are very different from, say, Norwegians. Swedes are forthcoming and ambitious; if you succeed in your ambition, you're celebrated by your countrymen (so long what you're doing is in the politically correct sphere). You

I've toyed with Go for a while, but it has not yet become my main language. Can you talk a bit about what you use it for, what your tooling is, and if you've discovered some great go-to libraries and supporting tools?

Not sure why this got downvoted. While I prefer my own customized Emacs or Vim, Spacemacs is pretty decent from the jump. You just need to activate the layer for your language.

Except for the reading part that's exactly like software engineering. Since when does a software engineer ever start from scratch? We all build on top of what was before. As for "the field does progress and removes bad ideas or c

I'm not even talking about end-user applications. You have different needs as a developer. I need libraries and compilation chains to be up to date.

YMMV. Mint packages tend to be quite old, even older than Ubuntu. This is no good if you want to run close to, or, upstream versions, which Arch excels at. Of course, you can install software not using your package manager, but that defeats

Stop perpetuating this myth that you have to mess around and tinker to keep Arch in working condition. It's one update command, and it's not something you need to do daily. You can put it off for weeks, all that will happen is you

This "configure and set up everything yourself" bit is overstated. It's not like Ubuntu, or similar batteries-included distros, doesn't require configuration and tweaking to get it your personal liking, anyway. And it&#x

I've been a Linux user since early Slackware. Arch is the only distro I will recommend, and, contrary to its image as a tinkerer's distro, it's the only Linux install I've had that "just works" and works. Insta
