I tried, mostly because I really like the idea of git managed sources for all these. But it's hard to integrate both bash life and emacs life. And you can't see the stuff on your phone. So I stopped after a few weeks. Any suggesti

The only non shell tools I use are browsers and Steam, the latter one painfully mostly on Windows. Otherwise I mostly program, admin or devops around. Bash, git, vim, grep, awk, tmux, ssh are the tools I use most. Nowadays also a quite a lo

It really knows the elements as objects. So it can interact with them. E.g. it recognizes dates and creates a calendar like Google Calendar for you. You can also move subtrees in linked lists around, only show certain layers etc. You can tu

the thing about org-mode is that it feels strongly designed for being used inside of emacs with the emacs hotkeys etc. If you do most of your stuff in emacs that's fine. But if you like me live in the shell it's not reasonable to

You think that because you read it in blogs and don't have the experience yet to see which of these articles are bullshit. It's not true though. The reason it seems that way is because the human species is so rich, that you can ma

Your worry is not unfounded, but it also implies trust in the current system. Just because it's done by humans not by software doesn't mean there are no bugs or mistakes made.

Total misunderstanding imo. A company doesn't default, when it can't uphold its promises. In fact most companies can't uphold their promises most of the time. If that would be true 99% of the companies you know would be dead.

All the information was always out there not hard to find. Actual safety does not come from hiding and encrypting what you are doing. Safety comes from having support by the right people. For instance if you are really rich and cheat the ta

There are sooo many alternatives, not just two. For instance you could partner with another company, showing them the open contracts and make deals with them to share the price when a project is successful. You could try to put your knowled

Weird. Nothing in this article seems to relate to reality. I wonder if this is a story to keep people healthy minded, who are too scared to switch to another company or two incompetent. I mean, we know for about a decade now that the way to

Being a little disillusioned about the world these days I would assume this has a purpose. My guess is this: Booking.com already knows that they are fighting a losing battle against AirBnB. So instead of trying to win it seriously, they go

The thinking is wrong I believe. Our current world system and world view has long overcome it's peak. There is not much to gain, and the whole system slowly breaks and falls apart. That means there are not many true opportunities to gr

That explains why a motor uses more electricity than an LED, but not why a server farm should use less energy than lighting a city at night.

I'm surprised to read in an age of LEDs lightning is supposed to use more electricity than computers. I'm not even sure that on average the motor uses that much more energy than all the other appliances in an electrical car.
