Because science is a religion. That sounds like a boring statement, but it's still true. Science in its core shouldn't be religious. But we are humans. So applying science, working as a scientist, using science (even if just for s

Of course they had. Who do you think worked at MTV back in the day? These were all 30+ years old acting like they were 14 themselves and making good money with it. It just feels natural if all you know is how to act like a 14 year old and h

Because both fight for the same audience: everybody. Whoever wins the game for everybody will beat the other and move it to a side corner. A little like FB and G+. Do you know anybody on G+? So even if it's better for 1:1 you can'

The bad thing about free market dynamics that you don't need to keep up user value once you hit market leadership. You just destroy the competition then nobody has a chance but use you.

This is too naive. a) Companies will even do illegal stuff as long as they can do it and the lawsuits are not too expensive. b) You can't make everything illegal. Smart people will always find a way no matter how strict your system is.

Engineering is about providing a tool/service that fulfills a customer need. But in the end it is not about making customers happy, as most engineering focussed blog posts would suggest. In the end it's about getting this very rar

If you work as an engineer in a big company you often face decisions that will influence big time results. And you can make a big impact, by deciding which competitor for your time (manager, co-department, company's partner A or partne

Look. Think about a guy. He stands behind a horse. The horse kicks him in the face. For most people this would hurt. But he doesn't process that feedback. How do you explain to him that it's a bad idea to get close to that horse f

I think this comment is bringing it to the point. Investment wise it was a bad idea to begin with, and when competitors start to hit and easily conquer the same market, then of course it becomes really stupid to invest in that market. In th

You need to consider that a coder most oftne self evaluates performance as time spent writing code. If he spends 50% of his time planing, learning, comunicating, and 50% coding he will consider it a 50% performance drop.
