whatsapp thrived in part due to the fact that it works on a lot of devices and in a lot of cases supported devices no one else did before their competitors.

"why would the sale of iPhones with FaceTime and Messages not be an even greater threat than WhatsApp to telecom revenue?" There's no "would", whatsapp is a bigger threat. Simple math: number of whatsapp users >

When it comes to decisions this big, I always assume there's more than meets the eye. You're probably aware of the statement Brazilian telcos made on the intent of charging according to bandwidth usage and it's public reactio

Is there an alternative to allow scripted destructive actions without the risk of deleting important stuff? Modern OS's will warn you if you try to delete stuff, but you can still ultimately do it anyway, I don't see it as somethi

My experience is the opposite, 12.04 used to crash(X) on me quite often. I did have some problems with 14.04 that would send a regular user go back to windows, but nothing I couldn't solve in a few minutes. I tried to use arch, but I e

I've been using it on nginx for about two months. Was pretty easy to setup and works on most browsers. Browsers that don't work are chrome and ie on windows XP and android 2.3.7 or older I guess.

https://www.highelobuilds.com/ A website to search for League Of Legends builds from challenger games. I had a lot of ideas, that's the one who made it because it's small enough so I can do it all by myself and I

Dude, don't hate yourself, and don't define yourself as a $LANG developer, if you want to learn new languages, do so. Learn the basics start a small project, try them out. If you really insist on limiting yourself to a single lang

Different times, different problems, apples, oranges. I agree with pg that lisp was probably the best tool he had available at the time for his specific problem, ViaWeb was a system that generated systems, sounds like a lispy problem. And i

Yes I see many of these advantages. I already use two different languages. One of my fears is that at some point I might want to query the data, but then I'd probably transform the data and create new "json views" for improve

I think TLD is ok, but I like Go's namespacing even better. It uses repos, so you can use both private and public repos. And it's actually where the code "live".

How is that superior to copypasting from a stackoverflow answer? If it's a popular issue, lots of people had the same issue, many will be nice enough to add their edge cases and make the answer better, most will not. Same goes for cont

I believe trying to create a general search that's better than google is pretty much a lost battle. I think the next big thing in search will start as a niche thing. If you reduce your user domain you can have a better shot at producin

Dennou Coil is very interesting and I think it contains tech we could really see in the near future. Fractale has a different tone and would be a far future, but the questions it poses on AI can be interesting.

I'd say work closely with the authors on merchandising. I see comics as a pretty personal kinda thing, there's a valuable relationship between authors and readers.

IMO the problem is about making people feel bad. Arrogance is the "I'm smart you're not" attitude. Sometimes you think you're helping and sometimes you're actually helping but you're still making people fe

I use windows, OS X and Ubuntu on a daily basis. And IMO Unity is the better DE. But I wouldn't say Ubuntu is the better overall UX. OS X has my least favorite DE. But I think it has the better overall experience. I've been usin

Wouldn't it be more reasonable to ask for communication services to start recording after someone is suspect instead of wiretapping everyone? Isn't that's how it works with phone calls?

I'd draw the line at the point where the user/consumer can't easily recognize advertisement as advertisement. For example, paying people to write blog posts or to friend your client on social media without making the "I&

I like the idea of one endpoint to get data from/to. But I fail to see how is that intrinsically related to URL's or SPA's. The title makes it sound like you wanna get rid of URL's sort of like safari. Which I think is
