Rust’s solution to concurrency is a hell of a lot more than just solving memory management. As long as you avoid `unsafe`, Rust statically prevents all race conditions. Rust also makes it so if you can parallelize something, then you’ve p

The general theory is that the continued distribution of child pornography is itself re-victimizing the person or people depicted.

An "is this child pornography" filter is a wildly different beast than "is this copyright infringement". The crucial difference is something either is or is not child pornography, regardless of context. But whether somet

If true, this is probably why the app hasn't been restored to the store yet. Apple requires apps that show UGC to have a reporting mechanism. In fact, if your comment is accurate, I don't know why Tumblr was ever allowed on the Ap

The claimed issue was that the database was missing material. This could be as simple as Tumblr stopped updating their database and didn't notice, and so newer images weren't caught.

Better for everyone to be using a small handful of battle-tested implementations written by experts than for everyone to roll their own implementation. The latter may mean that people have a better understanding of the component, but it

The problem isn't with parsing the data. The problem is with triggering pathological cases in the complicated beast that is font rendering. And rendering text is something that's so extremely common in apps, and so crucial, that i

That says it happens if you insert it using https://developers.google.com/gmail/api/v1/reference/users/m... . It does not say that this should happen because someone sent you an email.

You wouldn't do that by sending an email to the account. You'd do that by logging in with IMAP and importing an email that way.

macOS syscalls are explicitly not stable and may change from release to release. The only supported interface to them on macOS is libc.

Oh great! I hope you take good care in designing the "modern" language, because once people start writing scripts for your shell, it becomes very hard to fix mistakes (this has been a problem for fish's scripting). I wish I h

This app only redirects DNS, it does not tunnel any other networking. The DNS speedup someone will get by using this app applies to all domains, not just those of websites that pay for Cloudflare.

Providing services to malware sites isn't illegal. Providing services to child porn sites is. That's the distinction that Cloudflare draws.

Cloudflare explicitly takes a hands-off approach. They said they'll provide their basic services to anyone and everyone as long as it's not violating the law (which basically means they won't protect child pornography sites),
