agreed. I currently have detailed wireframes, a UI design mockup, and a complete overview description. So those should help.

I would plan to learn it, while at the same time have someone else develop this project. So I'm not delaying my work, I'm just learning while the work is going on.

I'm outsourcing my current project... at least to get the prototype. I want to learn it for long-term rewards. It all sounds a little daunting though..

Travis, you & mark make great points. Any insight into where to begin. With so many different programming languages (php, java, ruby, c++ yada yada yada)... where does a newbie even start?

I agree. I'm already going out to local meet-ups etc. and networking that way. This post was to expand that process. I'm essentially looking into any option at this point and you make perfect sense with your response. Thank you
