It's so bizarre how offended people get (the Facebook commenters in this instance) when scrutinizing the person used in an ad. One in particular argues that the author isn't what female engineers are supposed to look like. That r

I understand your perspective. I suppose the reason why I take this approach is because ordinary citizenry, with CHLs in my case, can be carrying weapons with them most of the time. CHL holders (like myself) are armed with more knowledge in

Actually, yes. I expect them to be human and capable of running out of patience as much as the next person. For instance, when I have a waiter that gets verbally abused by a neighboring table, I go out of my way to swing the pendulum in the

I'm extremely excited about this release because of the change to context from Owner-based to Parent-based. Authoring react-resolver meant jumping through weird hoops to avoid context changing, but this release should mean things will

I recently switched a project to Webpack and ended up do ing something very similar to run tests through Webpack and Mocha, since this project is isomorphic and leverages Bundles on both server and client. require.context is a good way to b

A lot of negative reactions here. My impression of engineering at Facebook has been the work ethic seen in Josh Perez's "Alt" Flux library for React. He's been very responsive and helpful to my own projects in the same p

I learned that Texas Code 30.06 [1] allows a business to place a prominently displayed sign not allowing even CHL holders from bringing guns onto the premise. Whereas, without that sign, CHL holders would be allowed to carry weapons, but no

I'm pleasantly surprised by the feedback on this so far. As a CHL holder in Texas, I think this law makes sense. Having taken the training, which I think should be a prerequisite for gun ownership IMO, my threshold for when I would bra

I'm in my early 30s and whole-heartedly agree with this, particularly traveling and saving. I avoided "exotic" travel because of the risk of the unknown, but with a family, there's a slim chance that'll happen anyti

It's true that your best shot for a 15% raise is switching jobs, but there's no way that's sustainable (for a comparable position). I think each year people should evaluate how they're expertise and duties differ from th

We've been rebuilding a major app in Node and searching for validation solutions that would support async. Embarrassingly, very few Node validation libraries support async! This makes it annoyingly complex to have multiple sets of vali
