I've got the QC-35s. They're actually pretty good at lowering speaking voices to the below intelligible level, IMO. This was also my first pair of noise cancelling headphones ever, and holy shit what a difference they make on an a

Late response, but yes - there was no https support whatsoever on this thing. Authentication was some custom shit and intended to be passed over the internet in clear text.

When I first got my MacBook, I agreed with you. However, when it stopped working and I switched back to my 11" air, I found the depth of the key press actually annoyingly too much

Not a vim user (but I know how to use it-ish). The escape key as the key in vim always struck me as an odd choice, ergonomically. Of course, I've mapped ctrl to the caps lock key, so...

Indeed. My mom got an internet connected "security camera" kit (for cheap from one of the big wholesalers, can't remember the manufacturer) and asked me to set it up. The hardware was nice, cameras did a reliable 1080p full c

The NSFW images actually reminded me of Keith Haring's work, given the not-so-subtle phalluses in all the images.

I upvoted you because of your edit, but I thought I'd add that "race" is a completely social construct and has no basis in science. Skin tone would indeed have been a more appropriate term to use. [edit, removed a parenthetic

I think there are countless examples across government, industry and personal accounts that using insecure email is a universally bad idea. Unfortunately it has the strongest network effect at the moment, and no one's come up with a wa

Ours was more spur of the moment and done without our parent's permission. We spent hours on the boats, and none of us had traced this particular creek that far (and the water was moving at a nice clip).

Ditto - especially when I'm halfway through the first paragraph of an article and it slides it down offscreen, so I scroll down to keep reading, then the ad goes away and the place I was reading goes back up off screen. It's crimi

Same here. I think my favorite unsupervised childhood memory was the time when (I was about ~10 years old) the day after a big rainstorm, that turned a nearby creek into more or less a river, we took a couple of inflatable rafts and went fo

The one time I ever flew LAX->Sydney many years ago (with my parents) - we (a family of four) had the center group of seats in a 747 for that trip. So did the guy behind us. I'm still jealous that he had the whole thing to himself,

I'd also recommend getting locked in the solitary confinement cell for a few minutes at Alcatraz, it's quite an experience (though it certainly takes a bit of trust to get over the fear that they won't let you out).

Okay, a quick googling led me to this [1] It appears that passenger side airbags that automatically disable are not required, but they were explicitly allowed ca 1997 by the NHTSA (as well as allowing a manual on/off switch). So my ori
