You are right - it is standardized thing, thought right now Opera,Safari and Chrome supports v1 (basicly everything webkit/blink based) out-of-the-box, Firefox has that behind flag and not ready, Edge is implementing it. You can use th

I got into same problem you had - the trick is to have view/parent components not use Shadow DOM - then you can use normal css styling, or alternatively prepare a `shared-styles` file that will contain styles shared across elements. I

Polymer is NOT UI framework - its "jquery for webcomponents". Companies like Google, General Electric or Vaadin release their own component catalogs with elements - if you want consistency you use that. But I do agree that too muc

It is an option to replace other frameworks - I've built an SPA with it, it was very clean and natural feeling to me. Building Polymer components is very similar to building Angualar 1.5 `component()`s or react components (or actually

There will be talks about SSR with web components on https://summit.polymer-project.org/speakers . There is talk by author of SkateJS.

A lot really depends on your tastes, I didn't like react and I have to work with it daily. I like Polymer and what I saw in Vue docs, but at same time Vue is one man project really so that was the main reason I did not go with Vue - I

Does it make that much of a difference? My applications are still on 1.x, I did migrate my components to hybrid though. One other interesting libraries to look at are svelte or skatejs - haven't used them personally yet.

Not really (I'm not even sure of a feature of "what" would it be?)- it is not like you have to use any of that - you could make same criticism for NPM, pypi etc. Webcomponents.org is just a repository, nothing more. If you wa

Doesn't that depend on pipeline? I've been doing for polymer components with html css and js split into separate files. They get concatenated into single file in build process.

Yeah, certainly it doesn't seem to get love here on HN. However now https://www.webcomponents.org/elements has over 1k elements and Polymer slack channel is over 8k users, the community is active and there are lots of

I don't think one should base the decision what to choose solely on "who gets more downloads". Otherwise we would all be still using PHP instead of Python or Ruby.

Another option that is interesting right now is Polymer 2.x if you haven't tried it recently, give it a shot. https://vuejs.org/v2/guide/comparison.html#Polymer There are some similarities shared between poly

Well generally React users seem to not care. So I don't blame FB. I guess the clause could be rewritten to be more like what Google/Apache 2.0 does - then everyone would be happy.

I honestly have no idea, I installed it out of curiosity to see the web interface built in polymer. Ideally I'd just see google stick to hangouts.

I installed it today out of curiosity - 15 contacts had it installed, and google play reports over 10 milion downloads - so someone must be using it. That being said - i was perfectly fine with hangouts and hate fragmentation.

But you can't self host bitbucket with mercurial support? I thought only the online version supports hg?

Try RhodeCode, you will get both mercurial and git. Since I prefer Mercurial over git I don't have any other option than to run my own instance.

I think maybe flagging needs to be reworked into: - spam - nsfw content - breaks the rules So people can flag "bad" stuff and don't remove topics based on their political/social views instead? Currently the system seems

I used the official site, they cover most of basic stuff - then just read the API docs, and explore what others do in their components. There are also some tutorials on codelabs https://codelabs.developers.google.com/codelab

I'm using polymer - so i guess that applies too. What I personally do is have views that use global styling from bootstrap/material depending on the project, and individual views are built from components that have their own styli

Good luck with that. Are they seriously expecting me to pay for 4-5 streaming services? I guess no Disney for me then. I don't see average consumer using more than a 2-3 services.

How do people solve performance problems with GraphQL? I can imagine that it can be quite slow internally with multiple joins/subqueries in the datastore.

I'm perfectly aware of that software patents are not enforceable in country I live in as far as I can tell. At same time I work with companies across the globe so I have to at least think at possible implications of licenses.
