Society made incredibly risky to have kids, or even marry. You are culprit of an infinite number of crimes unless you prove yourself innocent all the time. What could go wrong?

I have a faint recall of a DJB text with more in-depth discussion around the topic, thanks anyway for providing a true reference!

I like the Linus Torvalds' interpretation: that (almost) everything is actually a file descriptor. The few things that are not, like fork() returns, are subject to criticism (DJB wrote about how fork() should return an fd, I just could

Here in Brazil it is very cheap, because it grows everywhere. Used to plant in the backyard when I was a child.

Thanks for the mention of this test. I scored 51, but for some reason I am known as the 'right wing conservative AWM' in some circles. I just suppose that even liberal people judge by looks (I do look like the prototypical AWM)

Cockatiels also have an uncanny intelligence - they recognize different people, behave and play differently with each one of them, I always wonder how idle my surplus of 1298g of brain is...

Remembers me what happens when I have patience to talk a minute with a beggar. Ask where he comes from, this kind of chit-chat. The initial money request is often forgotten. People really want to be noted, acknowledged they exist, and heard

One thing I disliked in blogs, which made me migrate back to an old-school website, was the low bar of writing on a blog, and I ended up writing a lot of impulsive rants. Publishing on your own site makes you think twice and work the opinio

Sure. Basically, fear from lock-in, fear from having to do major rewrites because version+1 is completely different, or because vendor ditches the whole thing or goes bankrupt. To be fair, Java and .NET fared well since then - both still ex

Perhaps I will. I have a huge bias - PTSD from frameworks and I could not swallow why GNOME tried to steer to .NET/Mono at one point.

It already felt 1990ish back then, a "me too" moment because of Java. At least it was not tied to a PL but they couldn't refrain from inventing yet another one anyway.

I did a pretty simple teeth whitening treatment. The chemicals penetrate some micropores in the tooth and "explode" there, causing pain on very small disturbances like breathing cold air trough the mouth. It was gone after one day
