So it's impossible to resolve this issue? We cannot use our partners in the EU or abroad to help solve it? Well I guess we should just kill thousands with coal, and keep feeding the global warming furnace.

Ok, so since Germany is slow at building existing stuff, it will somehow be better at building non-existing, future tech stuff. Until then, gas and coal and we kill thousands.

Sure, I support that. But one thing doesn't preclude the other. Invest in nuclear now to get rid of coal, and at the same time invest in research that may or may not pay off.

Germans simply won't admit this. I talked to some people who are in high positions in the Green Party, and they all have this obviously stupid belief that we will simply switch to renewables instead of reactivating nuclear. What they d

There is no large scale hydrogen storage facility that could take even 1% of German's energy needs.

It's amazing how many well intentioned people cannot grasp this very simple point. There is no way to run a grid solely on solar and wind. Therefore the choice isn't between those and nuclear, it's between nuclear and coal&#x

> Nuclear energy is just cheap because it gets massively funded by the state. No it doesn't. Not anymore than gas, coal and renewables at least. The issue of disposal is also simply incorrect. There are plenty of places to store it,

This short-sightedness will ultimately kill big publishers. Yes you can milk customers and it will be profitable in the short run. But in the long run, your clientele will consist solely of idiots. Look at EA and Blizzard for examples of th

Can you recommend a specific book that discusses this in the context of private investors? I have read a couple of books from Taleb and he only talks about similar strategies for investment firms.

That sounds really weird. In Germany an apartment that rents for about €1000 would sell for €400,000 or so, which means a mortgage would cost 2 to 3 times more (with a 20% down-payment). This is with a 2% interest rate. How does the math wo

Every big fall I had ended up being a huge improvement in my life in hindsight, after a year or two. You couldn't have foreseen these issues and should feel proud of the experience you had. I hope everything works out well for you.

There is no country using hydrogen for large-scale storage of even 1% of their storage needs (maybe 0.01% but I'm being generous). And for batteries it's much less than that. Of course you can use renewables for even 100% of your

Russia has a ton of gas, and Germany needs a ton of gas. As unsavory as it is, the truth is that ultimately gas will be the solution to Germany's current energy problems.
