Why not pass an extra argument to emacs and then check for that in the config? Pardon my vimgnorance.

You mean? Yes. Yes, you'll need to have a crew and you'll need to need to ship the necessities, which eats into the efficiency of this mode of transport. However, a plane will create 40 times more CO2 for the same amount of cargo

Transatlantic cruises don’t have to be luxurious. If you’re comparing air freight to shipping by sea, it’s very clear ships are far more efficient. We just need to become better at containerising people :)

Don’t you feel it’s a privilege to be able to live all across the world? Most people in Europe can’t easily move out of Europe if they want to maintain a standard of living.

Sure, but I find office showers to be far more cumbersome, which takes more time. But I can totally see that being different for other people.

Shouldn't you add another 10-15 minutes to your bike ride for having a mandatory shower at the end of the ride?

This is almost universally true for any professional sport. Ultimately, it's personal preference, and the people at the top are committed to fighting to get to the top anyway.

You don't need to mandate the solution, just punish the negative outcomes. As long as Experian and their peers can get away with dumping gigabytes of data without any punishment, they will. Apply a generous fine to any data breach or a

Electrically induced chemical reactions would also store the energy in a way that might not be released as heat, I think.

This is a moot point, if a power plant operates at any significant efficiency, it doesn't matter what the process of generating power is - the generated power will 90% of the time be turned into waste heat anyway.

I'm on your side of the argument, but I take issue with the black and white "You pay for an x-box and own it". For any computer hardware that I pay for, I don't feel lime I truly own it unless I can run my own code on it

Of course, if you take the cynical approach to optimising software, you can easily ruin the utility of this metric quickly.

For me, it's a benchmark of a well made system - the lower bandwidth of log output you get when a user machine is idling, the better. I have seen some Android phones produce megabytes of logs just sitting there - you can test this by r

There'd be less opportunity for fatal crashes due to the surface area between cycle paths and car paths being reduced. This would literally mean that it'd be safer if there was better infrastructure.

The e-bike only works if you keep below the speed at which it's mandated to stop assisting. If one has a mental disability that urges the individual to pass by any and all cyclists in front of them, an e-bike will not relieve them from

No, I mean the car is crash tested against itself. And not against cars in the same class or a variety of cars that can be encountered on the road. I agree that small cars can be made to be safe nominally, but one cannot argue with the mass

Cars are crash tested against one-another, not against a benchmark car. This means that the tiny Aygo-X was crash tested with another Aygo-X, not with a Ford "danger" Ranger or a Range Rover or a Juke.

Yes, but there's NamedPipes and they can be used the same way on Windows. And Windows also supports UDS as well today. It's no excuse.
