If you have access to the apple ID that paid for a device, sure, why not.

If you have receipts for an iDevice and you have the iDevice in your possesion, Apple could just unlock the device. They could also lock the device to an iCloud account even if the user doesn't enable FindMyDevice on it. And I will re-

Are there other solutions to remedy the pain? Yes. Could they not just get back the same laptop they already have? Most definitely. Whenever there's a story shared on HN that implies a negative sentiment towards an Apple policy, people

No, I mean, desktop and mobile screen recording, in my opinion, seems to be simple enough even for laymen. I could also be convinced otherwise :)

Coming from a deep, shameful corner of ignorance, but what's special about recording a screen and sharing it via the comms tool of choice (IM, Slack, Signal, e-mail)? I do love the idea of sharing a screen recording of features though.

Carshares don't imply that the end users are liable for the upkeep financially, they just need to flag the issues to the car club, or at least that's how I've seen it be implemented in all the car clubs I've used. To sta

It really depends. A road trip in a car share can cost as much as a monthly lease payment, yet due to the way no one user feels responsible for the car, the tire was showing 4 different colors of threads. A trip to ikea can be really burden

Having lived in some places around Europe, my quality of life is always increased by owning a motor vehicle. I do not use it daily, I do not commute with it, but there are trips which are far more practical with a personal motor vehicle tha

I don't disagree that in most cities with any kind of upward economic development there's an inherent market pressure increasing prices - people will want to live in a city and there's a limited supply. However, what realpage

4 doesn't originate from XKCD, it originates from Playstation 3's firmware. Ultimately, 4 is a random number, so the developer in question could argue he was technically correct, it's the specification that's wrong.

Yet we still have lock files. The version constraints can just be another piece of metadata that a given derivation carries with itself. You have to distinguish between declaring a dependency and using one in the compilation of a thing.

I do not care about getting the latest updates, I care about having all the vulnerabilities being fixed. Can you load a malicious WebM file without executing arbitrary code in a webview on your S7?

Older phones don't get significantly cheaper when bought new, used ones are a gamble, and the savings don't go that far anyway when you consider the amount of updates you'll be receiving diminishes.
