On one hand you say they are so important they need to be nationalized and on the other you dismiss them as almost a couple of trivial apps. Which one is it?

You could easily raise goats without competing. They dont take up much room and there is a market for them. You just won't make much money. Like farming in general.

I think my point is more that there are tons of various requirements that people have that are at best unreasonable and as a society we don't indulge every request that people make. One day someone comes in and says I must now refer to

How far does this extend in reasonableness though? If my co-worker asked me to refer to them as "your highness" for example?

Since we already have an ASN, its free basically. I already have one. Its at least a /32 and maybe a /28. My upstreams support it, my ONTs support it but there isnt a nice ipv6 dhcp server with logging and a lookup interface that

I have an IPv6 block from ARIN. Now what? Think of all of the hours I have to spend researching the following and implementing it: 1. Does all of the intermediate equipment support it 2. Does my IPAM support it 3. How do I even give ipv6 ad

No, because isps dont care about page rank. I have to operate a small isp. IPv6 solves nothing for us and just makes even more problems. The comments in here keep saying that ipv6 will fix everything but it is hogwash. It just means I have

We make people pay for a business account and extra on top to get a static ip. The amount of support from people that know just enough to think they need to do home hosting is a multiple more than a typical home user. The people that actual

Not only do you have to support ipv6, ipv4 will never go away on any meaningful timescale. So even if you do the right thing and deploy it you still have the same ipv4 address constraints. There is no winning.

That is one of the most disappointing aspects of ipv6. Even if you implement it perfectly you are still stuck with having to deal with ipv4 with no end in sight. Had backward compatibility been a primary goal, is there any doubt we would ha

I just got a /32 from ARIN to start implementing it on our network but it is by no stretch of the imagination worth the effort. I will probably have at least 40 hours into testing it and no increased revenue will be realized by it. May

Is that ever the stated goal or complaint? Anecdotally of course, but I have never heard anyone in traffic wish that the road could carry even more cars at a higher rate. They want there to be less traffic. Building more lanes never accompl
