I'm assuming you are in neurosurgery, a highly competitive field with a large number of consequences in any given procedure. How would this compare with cardiothoracic surgery, where (at least in the US) each physician has to publicly

So how would you go about preventing this from happening? The false reporting of outcomes by those in power.

Probably going to sound naive, as I'm not at this stage of my training yet, but if not saying anything led to patients dying or suffering, I don't think it's worth whatever career prospects were potentially attainable. It

what's the alternative to fee for service? At the end of the day, even if you abstract out these costs to bundled payments or other things that we saw in ACA, there's still a price attached to every service provided. Wouldn't

Everything in this story is so relevant to my current trials and tribulations with medical IRB approval. I read this monthly just because I need to relate with someone else's experiences.

I have this same conversation with my non-healthcare friends almost yearly. You touched on everything I saw, but I'm not sure I understand what you mean by: > Reported outcomes are often erroneous or frankly fraudulent Could you ela

So to summarize you're basically saying to live within your means.

This is a really astute observation. My only thought is that by showing that powerful people aren't impervious, there's inspiration and motivation for that harassed employee to get up and do something about it.

But how can you draw a conclusion if you have conflicting results from both placebo controlled studies mentioned? One with a significant difference, and the other without.

In case people can't read the article as it's behind a paywall, it's not the primary source. However, to summarize the differences, this one study should not be representative of fact, as it very well could be that in the tri

If I started selling a product that may have benefited a future employer, should I not work for that employer in the future? Not saying these are at all equivalent situations given the amount of power Pai but curious all the same.

I'd imagine it's because erythritol isn't absorbed, so it just sits there in your gut drawing water out osmotically. That will make you feel really uncomfortable really quickly.

I'm curious, where would you expect someone with years of experience in a specific industry to go after public office? Besides public office, of course.

You know what would be interesting, though probably also flawed? Looking at mRNA. The reason DNA wouldn't work that well is because a lot of DNA we have isn't actually coded into the traits we present. I think this is what happens

I think you would just have HIPAA laws for protecting patient data (in the US) to deal with. Since you aren't making an actual decision on someone's care, I don't think the FDA would really care.

I just read today that in vivo confocal microscopy was used clinically in human patients. Do dermatologists do this, or is someone else operating the device? I've only used them in mice, very neat!
