Probably should be on v45 rather than the upper v4*s if you're not doing upgrades, since it's the extended support release and will receive security fixes. Although opting to not take updates because Firefox is taking a harder sec

Interesting. As a user, I've learned to only click on AMP results. They load quickly and reliably (no blank white site) even on LTE, and they never have intrusive adds. If they added an option for "only show me AMP unless I click

In theory, those submodules should be npmignoring those files and subdirectories, right?

They address pretty throroughly why that does not work for them in the linked article.

Doesn't npm effectively replicate bundler's functionality (poorly) via shrinkwrap? Why not fix that feature rather than replacing it with a separate utility?

This looks awesome. But I have to wonder why create a whole new project rather than fork or upstream these changes to NPM? It doesn't seem like it's doing anything fundamentally different or outside of NPM's scope of responsi

Hired.com, AngelList, talk to a recruiter. If you've got a CS degree from a decent school, it won't take long to get interviews.

Super interesting. Lots of data there. Two things that stood out from a quick once-over: Vue is doing better than I expected. PostCSS is less adopted than I expected.

Even Epic has dropped IE9 support AFAIK. That's a pretty good indicator to me that healthcare has moved off it.

Try hired.com. My experience with them was nearly identical to working with a recruiter, but a lot less hassle IMO.

Ag handles .gitignore as well. And has defaults appropriate for code searching. So the difference is official Windows support?

So, if they offered a PayPal button, and I decided I didn't want to pay via PayPal, would it be okay to not pay in that case? By putting up the blocker blocker, the site has clearly indicated how you can compensate them for the content

It's really interesting to me how strongly people dislike actions like this and the "Please turn off your adblock" thing. If this were a physical store, it's the equivalent of you taking something and the owner saying &q

I think that's probably true, but I bet not directly. People know her name because she is a woman who is a CEO (which unfortunately is still noteworthy), and people note her compensation because they know her name. Who has even heard o

This is part of my problem. The other part is that I just don't know where to look. I'd much rather have some board choose submitted areas of open source projects, have the submitter/community create a harness, and then run s

I wish someone would release something like Fuzzing At Home. I've got computer power to throw at it, but I don't really have the expertise to do the setup work...

Not sure how I feel about the not rebasing PRs rule, especially with CI on PRs becoming more common. I'd much rather have a PR get rebased than have an extra "Fix whitespace to satisfy linter" commit.

But how can you know it's safe in a collaborative project? What if someone else merges a PR right before you push?

Two things from my memory. 1. They hit some bad PR when they pushed a badly broken release in a point update. Turned out that their testing was not robust, while Lodash's is excellent, which further hurt them (this is when I first reme

Genuinely curious why the agency:consumer::host:guest is flawed. (agency|host) temporarily allows use of their property by (consumer|guest) in exchange for money.

R/Firefox is doing a performance AMA today, asking/helping people to run a profiler extension while hitting flows that cause sluggishness. You should stop by and see if they can help you out and get a bug report started.

Serious question, why does that matter? If you've got a thousand tabs open, that's 700mb, or roughly 4% of your (probably) 16gb of memory. Why worry?

Sites targeting tech-savvy users are more likely to use HTTPS because they know their users will notice it, tech-savvy users are more likely to use ad blockers. More of a correlation than a causation. At least, I assume that's the theo

The Core is pretty intriguing. Love the idea of a little cheap hackable piece of hardware that also hits the iPod Shuffle niche.
