Exactly this. You have to have some level of trust. That trust should have a pretty high barrier, though. FOR ME, one of the biggest things I look at is motivation. This often means looking at business models. We've seen where the race

I know of several homes where more than one Netflix stream is common, then throw in a Twitch/YouTube stream on top of that. Realistically, you don't always see speeds at what you pay for (especially during peak hours). At least I

They should have put "you don't have a REAL choice to get another ISP". 10Mbps would not be enough for me nor most of my (even non-technical) family members. Beyond that, the ones that do offer faster speeds have a cap that I

You're probably correct in how it will turn out, but laws can change. One precedent does not mean nothing will ever break it. It does make it harder, though.

Isn't having to go to RPM Fusion for a package effectively the same as having to go to the AUR?

There are more benefits to be had than time for a browser to render an image.

I don't see how that goes against what I said. Those three main benefits apply to anything hosted on CDNs.

I think the issue is less about philosophy and more about technology. SVG icons are better than icon fonts in pretty much every way. The only example I can think of where an SVG could be considered worse is if the icon is particularly compl

This doesn't take the user's connection into account. The user could have a really slow connection (think 3G mobile or worse). Any amount of caching helps tremendously here. Also, caching and fat pipes are just two benefits of CDN

3 C's: cost, convenience, and complexity. First, price. I think this is the biggest factor. You need a computer (for each TV). I don't think there are too many computers (if any) in the $35-$150 range that can handle smoothly play

Assuming the connection is reliable, I'd pay double the price for half the speed if it meant I got to call Spectrum and tell them where to put their plan.

This was my first thought, as well. I use Dash several times a day. It has been indispensable for me. There are a few main things that will probably keep me on Dash, for the time being. In no particular order: 1. Global shortcut - Being abl

Sure, anything taken to an extreme is bad. I wasn't suggesting to do that. I think if there is a sensible use-case for parallel computing in JS, it would be good to have. However, trying to make a solution before we have a (clear) prob

I think git-the-tool (i.e. the CLI tool) makes sense to be decentralized as it's at the core. If that tool were built around the idea of a central repository (like SVN), then you cannot escape that centralization (without using what ar
