The way I read this is you write that assuming the reader cherishes unix, kernels and userspaces as opposed to integrated live lisp environments assuming the role of unix, kernels and userspaces, yet without C. Now try looking at the world

There's definitely a certain element of nostalgia when consuming "old" (say, pre-millenium) art, e.g. tv shows, posters, poems, ... yet once you become aware of dark patterns it's hard to unsee them in said art.

I had the same thought. Just tried picturing "selling" use of this to some corporate overlords and I could hear the deafening noise of raised eyebrows in my mind. This looks like something no "modern" project with a &quo

fully agree about the dogs part. I made a short video on my dogs' impact on my didgeridoo practice and inspiration pool refills: https://youtube.com/shorts/aaDWZnmForU for a completely non-scientific take ;)

That's what I mean with you having developed a bias and no longer being aware of it [no insult intended] ;) If you know the concept in that language and its name-tag, then it's no longer confusing, just as lisp macros aren't

well, that's an innate feature of comptime expansion (or "macro" if you will) and as such this doesn't inhabit the same solution space as dynamic-dispatch interfaces. Benefit of this is it's boiling down to a static

don't know about the language rules, but I've had to wait for the explanation to understand what was about to happen. Naming is hard, d'oh, but I feel this could have a better name. "inline" does not trigger my brai

I think so as well. Bought a XR18 for my band, bought another one couple weeks later for home. Still using both regularly, despite other outboard gear, analog and ADC/DACs available -- just so damn handy! Only thorn in the side is the

Frankly, I hope I'm out of the C++ eco-system by then. Speaking of the "desire[s] for [of] C++", it's a matter of design-by-committee and we all know what sort of results this brings. Consultants love each new standard.

How long can you keep the term 'next generation' on your homepage and not trigger ridicule? Given the project is over a decade old, you gotta wonder what it considers 'current generation'.

There's no need to be politic about this from the POV of systemd. "We support this feature on merged /usr" does not have to mean "we don't allow to run it on legacy systems because it doesn't make sense&qu
