On the hardware design side of things, they did kinda sorta buy Motorola Mobility. It really seems that they've under capitalized on that purchase- and that was 12 billion dollars!

I previously thought that was the Nexus series, but my Galaxy Nexus isn't getting KitKat either, so even Google's own flagship phone series doesn't even get their own updates. They made some excuse about TI not being able to

It might take a while to find a good therapist- so some support there with encouragement to keep trying if the first one doesn't work out can be helpful. Focusing on mindfulness, and also healthy habits like regular exercise also might

Once all of Bioconductor is ported to Julia, I will probably shed some joyous tears. R is really nice for some things, because of how easy it is to work with table-like data, and operations like applying a function over a vector or a matrix

I was in SF for Google IO a couple years ago and was somewhat fascinated by the fog-mist. Also surprised to find that it shows up almost every day. Seems like a better place to visit than live though. Streetcars are a nice novelty, but I ca

I can accept everything about being human, except for death, so this is a challenge I've wanted to take on since I was quite young, but was afraid to directly face. Now I really know that I need to start moving more in that direction.

Investing that somewhere at the end of the month would definitely add up to something over a few years. (I can't figure out why everyone seems to like Chipotle so much, so I think investing might be more worthwhile)

It's kind of amazing that game still runs without any issues on new OSes/with new drivers/new hardware. Except now at a gajillion frames per second.

I'd not mind doing some self-experimentation with sleep, but I have a hard time drawing a line with when to stop and try to evaluate what the effect was. Changes might be so gradual as to not really being able to tell ("do I feel

I haven't been to Europe yet, but after living in Japan for a year and then returning to the US, there's nothing I miss more than trains that go fast and go everywhere. I could wake up, walk down the street, hop on the train, and

I'd be okay with just having a colony there. In the long term, the sun will go boom and we're not going to want to be there when that happens. Of course that's super-mega-long-term, but the only way we'll ever be able to

I like the solution for having some kind of "reward" for funders. As others mentioned, I'm not sure yet how to adapt this sort of thing to completely new projects or for something that isn't flashy like research on AIDS&

Yup, it's usually a case of trying to interpret what the PI told you to do. They usually don't have time to actually explain the context. Or to make sure that what they're requesting isn't something entirely impossible.

This has been my experience with picking up a second language. There are concepts that are expressed in a single Japanese word that seem like they would need a small book to explain adequately in English. Maybe there are places where the la
