That tweet seems like the bigger story. I've seen lots of deflection saying Yaccarino chose to retire prior to Grok/MechaHitler, but the tweet predates that. Even more deflection about how chatbots are easy to bait into saying wei

Amazon runs the vine review program. There are frequently multi-hundred dollar items available to vine reviewers in exchange for writing a review. It seems a lot of companies value early reviews highly, or their prices are rather inflated.

I love having so many little daptery-doos. My best hack is storing them though. I have a two tier desk, 24" deep main surface, and 10" monitor 'shelf'. I keep a half dozen tiny adhesive drawers under the shelf so they&#x

I did this with a surface go. I managed to drive off the alcohol with a heating plate. It took a few attempts. I think I heated it to 80 C or maybe even 100 C on the last run. End result was clean, except for a small line, possibly cracked

The point of the security guarantee is to ensure peace after a ceasefire. It doesn't make any sense to suggest US troops will be responsible for stopping the war or reversing territorial gains, because it will have already stopped. Som

Those similar gestures are people waving. Most of them aren't even clips, but still shots of the wave when the hand was extended forward. It is really disingenuous to compare them. It is disappointing that we are pretending someone wit

Its worth a look at what actually happened during the rise of the third reich. People aren't just making the comparisons to be hyperbolic. I know a bit of it from reading the beginning of William L. Shirer's "The Rise and Fa

That class of MP3 devices are a joke. I've tried acceptable looking devices from Innioasis, Ruizu, Tokemisc. They all have the same flaws. Poor interfaces and user controls. The ipod style touch wheels were frustrating, no velocity, de

Musk lies frequently, and trolls just as frequently. Even if you take him at his word it is still pretty damning that a person in his position couldn't conceptualize how the gesture would be received, and then just not do it. I get the

It is not too late, but you have to enable showdead to see flagged/dead/banned posts (note: banned posts also get the [dead] tag). Unfortunately that comes with seeing some actually despicable posts. I'm not sure I'd rec

There are various methods. A lot more around preventing dam building where it would be problematic. Things that block preferred locations either become part of the new dam, beavers destroy them, or sometimes a dam is created elsewhere. It&#

Flagging is mostly done by users (who have enough karma). It is just toggle (no reason entry form), and I believe it is the same for the moderator version. The reasoning generally should be non-adherence to https://news.ycombinat

I can't tell from the Internet Archive. The datasets that went away seem to have been added quite recently, between January 8th and 14th. There isn't a suitable capture between January 8th and 25th to see which tags or categories

Looking closer, there was a major increase quite recently before this decrease. On January 8th there were 3617 DoE datasets. On the 14th it was up to 5473. Now we're back down to just 30 more than on the 8th. Could it have been a publi

No, not because covid. Obama's second term decreased the amount of deficit added each year. Since then (excluding drop after 2020/2021) the amount has trended upward every year. I guess you could say less deficit was added during
