You shouldn't be editing "text" but "code" however. Text editing is low productivity task whereas code editing should happen mostly be at much higher level.

Yup for example the h.264 reference codec is full of compiler warnings of ill defined behavior. What's one to interpret about that with regards to standards compliance? That Undefined output is basically ok?

So no product marker fit and apparently no clear idea who the customer is. On the road to failure unfortunately.

Yep. It unfortunately takes a lot of writing code to understand that you should not write any code and to become good at not writing code.

Awk and shell scripting is the rabbit hole that is best avoided IMHO. Often it's just easier to crank out a "real" program using your lost familiar programming language or at very least python instead of starting to work with

Wasn't there however exactly a google controversy where an engineer was claiming that people who represent some minority groups get accepted easier and have a lower bar of entry because of diversity recruitment requirement?

That's the reason why there are standards such as the ISO2626, so when a vehicle malfunctions and causes mayhem the vendor isn't at fault but the standard (assuming that the vendor did meet the standard). And then the blame can be

Yes exactly the requirement that program is "well formed" is what leads to optimization opportunities. Not its "ill formedness". Nobody writes optimizations thinking "this program is ill formed I can enable this and

Undefined behaviours are the accidental outcome when a program fails to be well formed. Nobody who writes compilers goes out there thinking that undefined behavior is the key that let's them optimize code to run faster.

I've found the same. Unit tests easily have 3-5x the code that is being tested. But most of the code is very very straightforward with little complexity. I.e call this method with N different arguments covering edge cases border values

I agree. Your unit tests should focus on testing individual pieces, the fundamental building blocks (classes and functions) that you have in your system. The changes should be isolated so when a class API changes only those unit tests would

Code doesn't rust or corrode or accumulate bugs as it gets older. Obviously things can change around it, i.e. Dependencies and that can lead to some mandatory changes but really there are plenty of software that is old. Much older than
