Amazon does. I use their mp3 store on Android. They appear to only charge my credit card at the end of the day so that songs can be grouped.

That's a good dream. I only hope that our ability to harness solar energy advances faster than our desire to kill each other over other forms of energy. And even if we have abundant energy, there are probably other resources we'll want to

Interesting thoughts. I can't imagine that humans will uniformly adopt such modifications to their bodies. Even if everyone could afford it, many would be skittish about the idea. Things may happen slow enough for social norms to change,

That is actually an interesting thing to ponder (what would happen if there were no direct federal taxes). Instead, taxes would be funneled through local or state governments, which would be responsible for contributing some amount of that

I'm much less scared of skynet than I am of a world where robots can do most of the work. And I'm not talking about building cars. What happens when computers can write software or manage a company better than humans can? What place woul

Somewhat unrelated to this post, but I'm finding the debate over web vs. native mobile apps to be very interesting. I'm a huge proponent of web apps for desktop apps. Most software is simple enough to work well in a browser and you can't b

The world's coal and oil supplies represent millions of years of carbon absorption. If we burn through it in a thousand years, we've likely put more carbon into the atmosphere than has ever been there before (at one time).

This is why I think Google is _not_ evil and _very_ important. They will play a vital role in finding a way to protect (actual) privacy while still doing some extremely useful analysis. It's important to have a check on what they're doing

While I agree this is article is pretty fluffy, don't just discount the idea. Don't knock it until you try it... Most people waste a lot time in the morning building up enough courage (or guilt) to start their real work. They check email,

This makes me think it might be easier to get humans to speak a language that computers can understand rather than trying to get computers to understand our current languages :)

I released an Android app today with similar results. Lots of people giving 5 star, glowing reviews when it works and lots of people giving 1 star, nonsense complaints. And as with the iPhone, there's no way for the developer to respond o

Because making every pixel the same in all browsers usually isn't worth the effort. It's a money pit for projects that could be spending their time on functionality.

I only meant to imply that providing such a feature is more work than a "few lines of code" when you're trying to monitor millions of sites in real time.

Scale. It's easy to give real time stats when you're only monitoring a few hundred sites. There's a lot more data to crunch when you're trying to monitor half the web.

Why do you think time has anything to do with the stability of software? It's really up to them to label their software how they see fit. I respect them for not blinding doing what everyone else does.

Can you explain why you can't get all your FOSS project emails "in one place" with labels? Can't you just create a filter in Gmail to tag them as "FOSS" and then auto archive them?
