Didn't he "complete" the original series? Isn't that what Sandworms of Dune was? (Though he seems to keep mining side stories out the wazoo)

This doesn't seem to be a movie tie in. The character and vehicle design look different. It's likely a "well-timed" adaptation of the novel, similar to the recent graphic novel that was released in 2020, which emphasiz

I mean, anything past 256 bits is going to have a collision, so that doesn't matter, but you're right that the entire point of a hash is that even if you know the hash, it's very very hard to find what the plaintext is.

And any assessment calling Bitcoin and Blockchain on par with the greatest achievements in mathematics is suspect. Don't conflate Bitcoin with the underlying mathematical concepts that enabled them. Symmetric and asymmetric cryptogra

Spotify already paid him $100M to make his podcast inaccessible to people. Where was the concern then? If Spotify limiting Joe Rogan from post the podcast to other services was not a concern then, why is Spotify limiting what it hosts now

Free speech has nothing to do with it. Spotify paid him a $100M to provide a product according to their terms. The idea that this is a free speech issue is ridiculous and makes no sense. If it was a matter of access to the content, what y

Why haven't Democrats full-throatily supported legalization? I understand why Republicans haven't, but this seems so popular it seems crazy a major political party hasn't jumped on board.

Open source projects are not a good point of reference because by their very nature they invite external validation. If you are trying to steal $300M, you don't tell people before hand that you are going to do it. There also a differ

There are definitely parts users of HN that are not same, but the conversation is normally at auch higher level and most people welcome a different viewpoint instead of seeing it as an attack.

I think the other thing that is missing from this conversation is the bar of entry has lowered so much with modern CGI. Look at a YouTube channel like Dust[0], which has literally hundreds of sci-fi short films using CGI to tell stories. S
