I don't even want that sort of paternalism. With an old-school forum, you knew when you were "done", and you had to come back 12-24 hours later for enough other posters to have said anything worthwhile.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder whether or not Mozilla leadership is controlled opposition.

People always post this in reply. I don't want to donate to the Mozilla Foundation's CEO salary package, or their navel-gazing side projects, or their endless reshuffling of deckchairs. I want to fund _Firefox_, the only browser e

The problem is you're fighting uphill against individually-rational behaviour. If you keep your word while everyone around you breaks theirs, you will feel like a sucker while they get ahead. Most people will think "if you can

The article describes events set into motion over a decade ago. People calling bullshit on things that happened over the past couple of years have had a much worse time of it.

I see - once again, instead of just letting people fund the damn browser, Mozilla is continuing with its tried-and-true strategy of randomly integrating things into other things.

Monads are not "for side effects". Monads are a programming pattern to facilitate code reuse. Any time you have a type constructor M (like List<_>, say) that supports the following operations: 1. pure :: T -> M<T>,
