Both of them have worked together a ton and been in the same circles. Of course they are going to work on similar problem spaces.

Oh and regarding your signing requests to ensure other processes can't peak at the server content. I haven't gotten to this, was definitely on the plate, more proving out the approach still. Wrapping various apps and thinking thro

Shrinkwrap is basically a local server that hosts a folder of static html/css/js content that is served through an app that is just a full window WebView element. You could use a similar trick of wrapping go code, but instead of a

This is exactly what it does, wraps WebView. I don't do much Windows desktop programming these days, never have for Linux. I assume there are similar built in webviews that can be used for them too.

This is exactly it. This is the trade off for smaller size. You could do this approach with node.js as the backend. There are no APIs like file APIs, those would be the first APIs to add for sure.

I'm not sure, I just wrapped the project: https://github.com/viliusle/miniPaint

Definitely makes sense to. Wanted to make more progress and play with APIs before going wider on platform support.

I'v been experimenting with trying to make a smaller Electron like Javascript application wrapper. It's called Shrinkray, and only adds 60K of overhead to the size of the app. See: https://github.com/francoislaberg

Programming doesn't need automation to reduce a companies needs for programmers. Cloud computing, better open source projects, and basically anything we are excited about reduces how many programmers you need in order to build a set of

I'd love to see something like what Expo is doing for regular React Native for VR. Even them doing it would be great, I assume that might complicate their branding, but still. https://expo.io/

If you do, would love see experiments on that. I do wish NPM would start adding badges or some other meta data to packages that signify that a module has constraints like: - No native code - No module state (No multiple singletons, and ea

Addendum: If I recall, when I try GWT way back in the day, they had somehow made it so you can develop your webapps in a single process using a Java debugger.

I'd been meaning to try using Electron to debug/run both my node.js backend and my single page web app front end in the same process. With using redux, you'd have a time travel-able single process server and client debug work

Git is an epic example of a relatively recent extremely impactful open protocol. OpenGL is another I can think of. I'm sure there are many more. In my opinion, we are in the golden age of open source, with the caveat that big companies
