Yeah, seems like just another scammy F2P mobile game. Kudos to them for making money hand over fist, but I don't think I could sleep at night if I built my business by exploiting users.

+1 subscriber. Might want to turn the input to type "email" and hook up the default form event handler.

I ran into the same issue the author describes, RE: getting Ember to work with a non-Rails-style REST API. After spending quite a bit of time trying to figure out Ember Data, I reverted to Backbone, since it's dead simple to link a mod

I thought T-Mob just got a major spectrum influx due to the failed merger, plus they bought some from Verizon last year. And they're doing that merger w/ MobilePCS.

From what I can see, it means you write your code in another language, and then it is "compiled" into performant JavaScript. Basically it would create much more efficient JavaScript than you could write yourself. Nothing to stop you from co

Pretty subjective statements. Maybe you're just more familiar with the Chrome tools UI?

Agreed, local syncing is indeed unfortunate, but not sure how else it could be better unless Google builds an iTunes-esque desktop client, which is never going to happen. However, once I started using Google Music, I never looked back.

Interesting that so many people are discussing the price. If you've followed 37signals' blog posts about business, it's pretty clear that they prefer to have paying users, rather than offer support (i.e. waste money) to people only using fr

Can't nobody get nothing right. Plastic is too cheap and flimsy, glass is too heavy and fragile. Maybe the optimal solution is what Apple's doing now with the mostly-aluminum (or should I say, aluminium) back. That being said, seems like th

Tethering. If you're travelling a lot, tethering to your LTE phone would give you a relatively consistent, fast internet connection. Aside from that, it's just another way for carriers to charge you $$$ for a feature that is only marginally

Virgin Mobile's rates are attractive, but unfortunately they're a Sprint subsidiary, and as such use CDMA. Nexus 4 is GSM, so your best bet is StraightTalk, T-Mobile, or other inexpensive prepaid GSM carriers. As others have said, check out

As pointed out by others, the screw-up was not admitting that Apple Maps launched as an inferior product. The long-term benefits of a homegrown mapping product were very obvious, such as turn-by-turn and vector tiles.

Yeah, video tutorials are the worst. I can either view the video full screen in an attempt to read the code which is being presented (while losing the ability to type along in my editor), or squint and type. Even in a primarily visual progr

Yeah, these interaction features make the OS much more usable for sure, but their obscurity isn't doing Apple any favors.

Here's my own anecdotal example of CoffeeScript's readability. Once, before banging out a bit of complex code, I thought I'd write out some psuedocode to help wrap my mind around what I wanted to do. I type out my psuedocode algorithm, real

Laziness. I'm able to commute by bike, on a well-maintained bike path, no less. However, more often than not, I don't do it. Why? Because since I also have a car, I'm more likely to drive when running late (which is basically ALL the time).

Hmm, I thought that v.2 shipped with some build scripts, so theoretically you wouldn't have to open Xcode, just do everything via command line.

It's not necessarily about how the software works, but how it looks. Apple's UI design is very appealing, so to appropriate that in order to sell a different product is wrong. I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say Apple was "ripped off," but

I don't understand this at all. How did the 4 year development cycle of Fez get funded, if not out of Microsoft's pockets? I don't think Fish & Co. were bootstrapping it. If anyone has insight into Polytron's financial situation, I'd be

Not applicable to most games, but I did a puzzle game that uses HTML/CSS for layout, then enforced a fixed 2:3 ratio for the "content" area of the game, with each UI element using a percentage-based width/height. The great thing about this
